Purple Holo Leaves Manicure

The theme for today's Nail Art Sunday is "Longing".

To me this manicure represents fall and after a long hot summer I'm now actually longing for fall with its crisp air and bright colors. I also find it very cozy to light some candles, snuggle under a fleece blanket and have a cup of hot tea :)

The base is By K Lavender Blue and then I've stamped on a leaf pattern with the stunning purple holo Wild At Heart from Color Club. I used a plate from MoYou London called Mother Nature Collection-03. To break up the purple domination I added some green dots with the magic Reclaim from Nubar.

I'm very happy with this manicure and I got a lot of attention because of it too :)

Art Deco Holo Nails

The base for this manicure is the magic Spacecraft from Dance Legend. Then I've stamped on a pattern from MoYou London Pro Collection-06. The stamping polish is Essie No Place Like Chrome.

I'm pretty satisfied with the result. I like that the nails are only partially covered by the pattern so that the lovely holo shines trough :)

Colors by llarowe Gemini Rising - swatches and review

It's Holothon and Holo Friday today and the end of my first working week after four weeks of well deserved holiday.

I'm actually lost for words on this holo polish… It's so stunning and has such great qualities! Of course impossible to capture because of all the glow and holo madness going on here… But in first pic you can see its crazy vivid and bright green color. The last two pics is a hint of its strong holo effect. My pics don't do it justice. This is a must have in both green lovers' and holo lovers' collections! And if you are a green holo lover like me - you'll be in heaven wearing this ;)

This is two coats and it has one of the most perfect formulas I've ever seen on a holo polish!

GOOD TO KNOW:

Type of polish: Holographic.

Number of coats: Two.

Formula: Excellent formula! No complaints at all! It practically applied itself.

Brush: Quite wide straight cut brush.

Top Coat: Yes.

Grade: 5++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++/5

This is the first Colors by llarowe that I've tried and if she has this amazing formula on all her polishes I want more! For this one I've got only one advice - get it before it's too late! ;)

Holo Tiger Nails

Time for some nail art! This is a manicure I wore about two months ago. You can see how short my nails were by then :/ I just had to cut them because my pinky was torn off right down to the flesh :(

Anyhow, I think this manicure turned out pretty well actually! Tiger nails with a holo twist ;)

The base is Jade Mystic Gold and then I've stamped on a pattern from a Konad plate called m57. The black polish is Misa I Will Survive. I had to stamp twice on each nail because of the small print but I don't think you can see the joints that much at all.

Dollish Polish Redrum - swatches and review

Today it's both Holothon 2.0 and Holo Friday and I've got quite a gem for you actually! I haven't seen this polish on any blogs and that really surprises me because it's really beautiful! Dark copper red with a strong holo effect. I don't see many Dollish polishes at all actually nowadays… Strange.

Redrum was released in 2013 with the Halloween Frights Collection. If you find the name strange - read it backwards… yes, it says murder ;) The expression redrum comes from the film The Shining and even though it's not a very pleasant name it's still a very appropriate name for a Halloween polish ;)

This is two coats and the formula is excellent.

GOOD TO KNOW:

Type of polish: Holographic.

Number of coats: Two.

Formula: Excellent formula! You're in full control and there are no bold spots if you avoid double dragging on your brush strokes.

Brush: Medium straight cut brush.

Top Coat: Yes.

Grade: 5/5

This is a great holo with quite an unusual base color. Unique in my collection. Even holographic, ok weak but still, in the shade, see last picture.

Zoya Dream - swatches and review

Time for Holothon 2.0! This time with a real showstopper! So beautiful you just want to cry, well almost ;)

Really just weak scattered hologlitter in a dark blue jelly base but never the less soooo stunning!! On top of this it has a great formula too.

Three pics today of Dream in three different lightings and it's wonderful in every single one! This polish goes on my top ten list - ever!

GOOD TO KNOW:

Type of polish: Holographic.

Number of coats: Two.

Formula: Very good! So easy to control!

Brush: Thin straight cut brush.

Top Coat: Yes.

Grade: 5++++++++++++++++++++++++++++/5

Smitten Polish The First Lobster - swatches and review

Smitten has really cracked the code on how to make awesome holo polishes! Every single one I've tried so far has been fantastic formula wise! So is this one from the Love Actually collection. This is The First Lobster and it's my contribution to Holothon 2.0 :)

I love that film Love Actually! I've seen it so many times and every time I look down on my nails I can hear that little girl proudly announce that she has gotten the part of the first lobster in the nativity play. Her mother surprisingly asking if there was more than one lobster present at the birth of Jesus and she's answering with a simple duh? and an offended expression on her face. Lol!

Anyway, this is two coats with a top coat.

A blurry pic to show off the pretty rainbows.

GOOD TO KNOW:

Type of polish: Holographic.

Number of coats: Two.

Formula: Excellent formula! You're in full control and no bald spots.

Brush: Quite thick straight cut brush.

Top Coat: Yes.

Grade: 5+/5

This is a wonderful holo polish! Great formula and such a vibrant base color! I wasn't sure I liked it first but once on the nails I loved it! Perhaps not quite the color of a lobster in my eyes, more of blood oranges in my opinion. Really pretty when not showing its rainbows too which is not always the case of holo polishes.

OPI DS Glamour - swatches and review

It's Friday. It's payday. I'm on holiday. AND it's time for Holothon again! Could it possibly get better?! ;) Today I'm going to show you an old favorite of mine (not gold or yellow lol!) - this is OPI DS Glamour!

I've showed it before but it's so beautiful and rare it deserves to be shown again - and again, and again... :)

Great formula, great rainbows, great base color - do I need to say more…? ;)

GOOD TO KNOW:

Type of polish: Holographic.

Number of coats: Two.

Formula: Excellent! No bald spots, no streaks. So easy to apply! Dries fast.

Brush: Wide straight cut brush.

Top Coat: Yes.

Color accuracy in pictures: Accurate.

Grade: 5+++/5

The only negative thing about this polish was that it had a quite strong chemical smell to it. I haven't noticed it before so I'm wondering if it's an age thing…? I opened the bottle perhaps four years ago. It won't stop me from using it though ;)

Holothon: KBShimmer Goldie Rocks - swatches and review

It seems like I've shown you only gold and yellow holos for this season's Holothon... but this will be the last one - I think ;)

This is a golden metallic holo polish from KBShimmer called Goldie Rocks. It has some glitter in it too because when I removed it I felt it. It's not hard to remove though! It comes off as easy as a cream.

Strong linear rainbows on this one! Beautiful! Two coats is enough for full coverage.

GOOD TO KNOW:

Type of polish: Holographic.

Number of coats: Two.

Formula: Good formula! Watch out for brushstrokes though.

Brush: Medium straight cut brush.

Top Coat: No.

Color accuracy in pictures: Accurate.

Grade: 4/5

This might not be the perfect color for my skin tone but it sure gives you wonderful rainbows! :)

Golden Holo Swirls on Green Nail Art

It's Green Wednesday and I've got a holo nail art for you today! :D

The base is KBShimmer Goldie Rocks and then I've stamped on the green pattern to create the swirls. Well, actually the stamping polish is a turquoise but the gold underneath turned it into a green. The polish is Ocean Depths from By K and the pattern is from a MoYou London plate called Pro Collection-07. I've used this pattern before in a totally different look. Click here to see that manicure.

I'm quite happy with the result. It looks warm and glittery ;)

Holothon: Darling Diva Dreamy - swatches and review

For today's Holothon I want to show you a magic holo top coat that will turn your ordinary cream polishes into gorgeous sparkling holo polishes!

This is Dreamy from Darling Diva on top of By K Dandelion. A yellow bas diminishes the holo a bit but imagine this over a black! Or a blue! Or a green! Or a purple! Ok, you understand ;) The possibilities are endless with this holo top coat!! :D

GOOD TO KNOW:

Type of polish: Holographic top coat.

Number of coats: Two.

Formula: Very nice formula! Dries fast too.

Brush: Medium straight cut brush.

Top Coat: No.

Color accuracy in pictures: Accurate.

Grade: 4/5

It's great to be able to turn your regular creams into holos but I must say I prefer ready mixed holos. More pretty and less work for me ;)

Holothon: Jade Sunset - swatches and review

It's Friday and it's time for holo! I'm doing both Holothon 2.0 and Holo Friday and today I've got a holo from the new holo collection from Jade called Sunset.

I saw a swatch of Sunset and fell in love with it but when I got it and saw it in its bottle I got a bit disappointed actually… But once on the nails I loved it again! Does anyone recognize this behavior…? ;) I don't usually look good in orange but in this I do! Yey!!

Anyway, this color reminds me of those hard orange sweets my grandparents always had at home, dark orange but still bright. Lovely rainbows as always with Jade. It shifts a bit in color depending on lighting. Last pic is taken on a tube station far below ground :)

Fish Scales Nails

I will not let my cold stop me from joining Green Wednesday! So from my sick bed I give you my scales nails :) I love how that rhymes!

The base is an amazing scattered green/blue holo from Darling Diva called Anna and the scales pattern is made with Essie No Place Like Chrome and MoYou London plate Suki Collection-06.

I wasn't sure what to call it at first but I think scales nails are pretty appropriate. What do you think?

Here in Sweden we celebrate Midsummer today with dancing, singing and eating with friends and family. So today I've got a real sunshine polish for you, Jade Mystic Gold!

Gold/yellow is not a great shade for my skin tone but this polish gives you amazing rainbows in the sun! Even in some artificial lighting actually and even weak ones in indoors.

GOOD TO KNOW:

Type of polish: Holographic.

Number of coats: Three.

Formula: Excellent formula! You're in full control and no bald spots.

Brush: Thin straight cut brush.

Top Coat: No.
