(Jingle) Bells Nails

The theme for today's Nail Art Sunday is "Christmas". I decided to interpret one of my favorite christmas songs - Jingle Bells. I don't think I need to explain this interpretation ;) lol! It's quite literal.

The base is a dark green cream I bought on sale at Gina Tricot last year. It's called Forest Night. The bells are a pattern from Bundle Monster plate BM-223 and the gold/copper polish used is Essence Steel-ing the Scene. The red ribbons are made with a thin brush and Isadora Love Crush.

I think I could have done a better job but I like the idea. Hope you do too! :)

Gina Tricot Heavenly Stars - swatches and review

Today I've got an older polish for you, that is Heavenly Stars from Swedish Gina Tricot. This is a bright blue and magenta glitter polish and in these pictures I have layered it over Isadora Sky Crush.

GOOD TO KNOW:

Type of polish: Glitter.

Number of coats: Two coats layered over Isadora Sky Crush.

Formula: Very nice! Easy to work with.

Brush: Very nice! No complaints.

Top Coat: No. Surprisingly smooth without a top coat!

Color accuracy in pictures: Accurate. 

Grade: 3/5

This polish is best layered since it consists of glitters in a clear base. It can be worn alone but then you need to apply perhaps four coats I think. It's a pretty glitter polish with a fun blend. It didn't win my heart though but then again I'm not that much into glitters in clear bases.

Gina Tricot Monaco Blue - swatches and review

I know this polish is called Monaco BLUE but it looks green so I have decided to show it for Green Wednesday after all :)

This polish consists or small green and blue hex glitters and larger silver hex glitters in a sheer blue base. That is probably why it's called Monaco Blue ;)

This is three coats layered on top of Catrice Petropolitan which is petrol green and makes Monaco Blue look green. :)

GOOD TO KNOW:

Type of polish: Glitter.

Number of coats: Three.

Formula: Very good! Easy to control. Sheer, so probably best for layering.

Brush: Very good! No complaints at all.

Top Coat: No.

Color accuracy in pictures: Accurate. 

Grade: 4+++/5

I liked this polish a lot more on the nails than in the bottle! It looks so luxurious and very beautiful! I like the combination of the glitters and the great formula too! The best part is that I got this polish on a sale for almost no money at all! :D

Gina Tricot Cream - swatches and review

Today I want to show you a nice cream polish from Gina Tricot with the very creative name "Cream" ;) It's a cream base packed with copper shimmer.
It's really pretty!

GOOD TO KNOW ABOUT CREAM:

Type of polish: Shimmer.

Colour: A cream absolutely packed with copper shimmer.

Opacity: Very good! This is two coats. Quite good for a cream polish!

Formula: Very good! A nice formula which is easy to apply.

Brush: Very good! Easy to work with.

Shine: Very shiny on its own, but I have one coat of Seche Vite top coat in these pictures.

Accurate colour, photo vs IRL: Accurate! Except for that the shimmer does come out on the nails which doesn't really show on my pictures.

Grade: 3/5 :)

This is a unique polish in my collection with all that copper shimmer in a cream base. I like it! There is actually so much shimmer that the polish sometimes look pink because of all the shimmer!
To me this polish is more of a base color for nail art than something I'd wear alone. That is why I only gave it a 3, but it really is a nice polish with a nice formula!

Blue Glitter Gradient - swatches

It's time for a gradient! :) And since it's Blue Monday today, it's a blue one! ;)
For this manicure I've used Orly High on Hope and Disco from Gina Tricot. I think they work really good together and I'm very happy with the result! :D The shimmer in High on Hope makes the transition between the polishes even softer.
The pictures below are taken in diffent lightings. Look how High on Hope is shifting in colour depending on the light! :D

The Gina Tricot Holographic Collection - a summary

Today it's Holo Friday!! :D I have quite a few new holo polishes to show you (from Jade and Top Shop for instance) but unfortunately I haven't had the time to swatch them yet...

So today I'll give you a summary of Gina Tricot's so called Holographic Collection. Here they are in the order of how I like them. My favourite first and then descending :)

I think this so called holo collection is a joke! The only one slightly holographic is the green one. The others are pretty, but not holographic at all!
Shame on you Gina Tricot! >:-(

Gina Tricot Silver White - swatches and review

This is actually a quite pretty creamy white polish! Unfortunatelly the formula left a lot to which for... It's far too thick! But the finish of it is like of a pearl! Gorgeous!!

GOOD TO KNOW ABOUT SILVER WHITE:

Type of polish: Shimmer.

Colour: A creamy white with micro silver shimmer.
 
Opacity: Good. This is two thick coats. You have no choice but to do thick coats because of the formula...

Drying time: Slower than normal due to the formula.

Formula: Hmm... not so good I'm afraid... Very thick and almost lumpy :/ Evens out pretty good on the nail though. But a top coat is a must over this polish!

Brush: Ok. A bit thin for my taste ;) but ok.

Shine: Dries semi matte, so I have one coat of Seche Vite in these pictures.

Accurate colour, photo vs IRL: Accurate! What you see is what you get! :)

Grade: 2/5 :/

If the formula had been better on this polish I could have really liked it, but it's far too thick! Next time I'll try to make it thinner before applying it. The finish is really beautiful though! And I got for only $1 on a sale ;)

Gina Tricot Pistage Green - swatches and review

Today it's Green Wednesday and I'm showing you a pistage green (or is it avocado green? ;)) polish from Gina Tricot. I'm normally more into bright colours, but this is actually a very nice muted colour! :)

GOOD TO KNOW ABOUT PISTAGE GREEN:

Type of polish: Shimmer.

Colour: A muted light green packed with green shimmer.

Opacity: Very good! This is two fairly thick coats.

Drying time: Normal.

Formula: Very good! Nice texture. It stays right were you want it to!

Brush: Very good! Quite thick and firm. Easy to apply with.

Shine: Shiny on its own, but I have one coat of Seche Vite in these pictures.

Accurate colour, photo vs IRL: Accurate. What you see is what you get ;) The shimmer is a bit more visible IRL though. My camera didn't want to capture it.

Grade: 4/5 :)

This is a beautiful spring polish with excellent qualities! The shimmer gives it that little extra something :)

Hearts and Dots Nails - swatches

For the upcoming Valentine's Day on Thursday I want to inspire you with this Hearts and Dots Nail Art ;)
This is also my contribution to today's Nail Art Sunday :)

The base polish is Pistage Green from Gina Tricot, a pale pistage green with green shimmer. Then I've just made hearts and dots using Eyeko Saucy Red Polish and a thin brush and a dotting tool.
Time consuming yes, but hard, no ;) The mani was sealed with one coat of Seche Vite. I hope you like it! :)

Gina Tricot Holographic Pink - swatches and review

This is the last polish I have to show you from Gina Tricot's Holographic Mini Collection. This is Holographic Pink!

Before I've shown you green, blue and multi and, in my opinion, only the green one is holographic. I think you all have agreed with me too ;) This one is also a shame to call holo!! It's not holo at all! And since I'm not really a pink polish fan I don't really like the colour either to be honest...

But you can't always show high score polishes can you? ;) If you like pink perhaps you like this....? Or? ;)

GOOD TO KNOW ABOUT HOLOGRAPHIC PINK:

Type of polish: Something between shimmer and foil (Label says holo, but I say no ;)).

Colour: A medium pink (with hints towards heather pink) packed with silver shimmer and micro silver glitters.

Opacity: Good! This is two coats.

Drying time: Normal.

Formula: Good! The texture is nice and it stays where you want it to.

Brush: Ok. A bit thin which gives the polish a bit of a streaky look. This could easily have been avoided with a thicker brush.

Shine: Shiny on its own. No top coat in these pictures.

Accurate colour, photo vs IRL: Accurate. A bit more sparkly and glittery IRL. In the daylight picture you can really see all the silver shimmer in this polish.

Grade: 1/5 :/

To me this polish isn't hardly worth the 10 kr (£1 or $1.5) I bought it for on sale... But the whole holo collection was sold as a pack of four so I had no choice since I wanted the others.
Or am I having a bad day...? Perhaps I'd like this polish better another day...? ;)

Gina Tricot Holographic Multi - swatches and review

This is another Gina Tricot polish which they call holographic but which I don't.
Ok, there are some prismatic glitters in it, but it's not holo.
It's never the less a beautiful polish with a gold base filled with pink shimmer and prismatic glitters. The finish is something between foil and duo chrome.
The gold makes it a foil but all the pink shimmer makes it duo chrome and then the prismatic glitter on top of that! A fantastic combination really! :D

Type of polish: Foil with a both duo chrome and prismatic effect ;) (Label says holo, but I say no ;)).

Colour: A pale gold absolutely packed with pink shimmer and some prismatic glitter.

Opacity: Ok. This is three coats. It could also be nice to layer it over a black cream perhaps...?

Drying time: Normal.

Formula: Good! The texture is ok, perhaps a tiny bit runny, but it stays where you want it to. It's a bit weakly pigmentated though so you really need those three coats.

Brush: Very good! Thick, firm and easy to work with!

Shine: Shiny on its own. No top coat in these pictures.

Accurate colour, photo vs IRL: Accurate. What you see is what you get ;) More sparkly and glittery IRL of course! ;) And the duo chrome effect is more visible IRL too.

Grade: 4/5 :)

At first I didn't like this polish but after wearing it a while and looking at it closely (AND getting over the fact that is not holo ;)), I liked more and more!
The gold is a nice pale gold colour and not that yellow type of gold that I dislike a lot :P The pink duo chrome effect is beautiful and the glitter makes it really sparkly in some lighting! So, yes I like this polish but I refuse to give it 5/5 when it says holo on the bottle ;)
