Misa High Brow - swatches and review

Even though it's Wednesday there will be no green polish today. I haven't worn green for a while actually. I've been more into fall colors and today I've got a fall show stopper for you! This is High Brow from Misa.

The base is actually purple so depending on lighting it can look both red, brown or purple! Totally stunning! I wore this polish for almost a week! I couldn't bare myself to take it off! The glow from within is magic!

GOOD TO KNOW:

Type of polish: Shimmer.

Number of coats: Two, but it's a possible one coater if you do one thicker coat.

Formula: Excellent formula! Applies totally effortless!

Brush: Medium straight cut brush.

Top Coat: Yes. It actually dries semi matte without a top coat. 

Grade: 5+/5

A perfect shade for autumn! I love it!

Chocolate Buttons Gradient Manicure

Warning for a big chocolate craving if you keep reading ;) But please do anyway! Lol!

This is a simple dotted gradient nail art but due to the choices of colors I made I think they look like chocolate buttons ;)

The base is By K Copper Heart and the buttons are made with dotting tools and By K Choco Mousse and By K Jet Stream. A pure By K polish nail art! :D

Vintage Roses Nails

It's Nail Art Sunday today and time for a stampicure! :)

The base is Picture Polish Chillax - so gorgeous I want to cry! ;) Then I've stamped on two different patterns from MoYou London plate Pro Collection-07. Yes, TWO patterns :) Please note that the ring finger is inverted ;) As stamping polish I've used By K Choco Mousse.

I call this manicure for vintage because I think the brown and the bright minty turquoise create a vintage feeling. I was very happy with this manicure! :D I think I like the inverted pattern best actually. What do you think?

Needle Dragging Flower Power Nails

The theme for today's Nail Art Sunday is "Flower Power" and when I think of flower power I think of the 70's and that era's earthy colors and large prints. So I did a needle dragging manicure using red, orange, brown and yellow.

The red is The Sky Is The Limit from By K, the orange is Autumn Leaf from By K, the brown is Choco Mousse from By K and the yellow is Happy Go Lucky from China Glaze.

I just slapped on the polishes generously (all colors right after each other on one nail at the time) and then I used a thin dotting tool and dragged lines from the red area and outwards. A top coat and I was done! :)

Art Deco Leopard Nails

For this Nail Art Sunday I've done an art deco inspired leopard manicure. I didn't actually realize it was art deco until my dear friend Christine told me it looked art deco. Thanks pet! You always find the perfect descriptions for my weird nail arts! :)

The base is the beautiful Choco Mousse from By K. Then I've stamped the leopard pattern with Konad plate m57 and Essence Glamour girls. Finally I did some dots with By K's Jet Stream.

I was very happy with the result. I love art deco and the joints between the two stamping parts on each nail are almost invisible.

Let's celebrate this by looking at By K's gingerbread brown polish Choco Mousse ;) Yes, you can also call it chocolate brown :)

GOOD TO KNOW:

Type of polish: Cream.

Number of coats: One!

Formula: Excellent! Very easy to apply and self leveling.

Brush: Very good. Perhaps a tiny bit thin for my likening.

Top Coat: No. It's very shiny on its own.

Color accuracy in pictures: Accurate. 

Grade: 4/5

I'm not that into brown polishes but I like this one! Probably because it's so dark :) I like dark polishes. This will be perfect for gingerbread manicures for Christmas and it's another one coater from By K!

Kicks Black Diamond - swatches and review

I have a plan. A textured plan ;) Today Swedish Kicks' Black Diamond, tomorrow a textured comparison and the day after that a textured skittle. How does that sound?

This is the Swedish perfumery shop Kicks' own textured polish. They have released a range of their own textured polishes. This is the first one I have tried and I am impressed!

Excellent formula and touch dry in 15 minutes.

GOOD TO KNOW:

Type of polish: Textured glitter.

Number of coats: One!

Formula: Excellent! It's so easy to apply!

Brush: Very good perhaps a bit thin for my likening but I like my brushes wiiiiiiide ;)

Top Coat: No. 

Color accuracy in pictures: Accurate. More glittering live though.

Grade: 4/5

This is a fantastic polish formula wise and color wise! However, it brought out the red in my skin and that is the only reason I gave it a lower grade.

It can also be good to know that there is a smaller round cap underneath the big square one, just like on the Illamasqua bottles. As I said it's touch in 15 minutes but to get it complete dry takes about 30 minutes.

Autumn Leaves Nail Art

For this Nail Art Sunday I want to show you an autumn manicure! I did some stamping with a leaf motive in different colors on a yellow base. And with some I mean 72 times :) Every single leaf is stamped on its own. Yes, it took a while but it was worth it in the end :) My customers got totally crazy over this manicure! They didn't want to leave the shop and asked hundreds of questions! Lol! :D

I used the following polishes for the leaves: (from left to right)

Model City Dipping Chocolate

The yellow base is Lime Crime Crema de Limón which is a more soft and pale yellow irl. I'll show you it on its own some day soon!

Holographic Bumblebee Nails - swatches

Today is my favourite day of the week - Nail Art Sunday! This is a manicure I wore a couple of weeks ago. I got such an urge to do a bumblebee mani when my dear friend Christine sent me a picture of the bumblebee Willy. I have included that picture further down. He's such a cutie!

This is a pretty straight forward striping tape manicure with added eyes made with dotting tools.

As July is coming to an end soon, it's high time for another challenge from the "Step Into Summer Challenge" by the Hobby Polish Bloggers!
This time the theme is "Ice cream"! Yummy!

I decided to try one of my Barry M Nail Art Pens to do the cream on top of my ice cream cones and it was fairly good. It annoyed me that you could only get very thin lines or very thick lines. Nothing in between. But perhaps it's me who needs to practice more...?

I hope you feel the urge for some ice cream after viewing these! Then I know that I've done a good job! ;)

Depend #208 - swatches and review

Brown isn't really my cup of tea, but I got this polish from a friend and after it had lain untried for almost two years (!!) I decided to try it.
I was happily surprised since I discovered it was both a one coater and that it had a very nice formula!! :D The silver shimmer comes out like a very thin and transparent veil on top of the brown which IRL is really lovely! :D
If you recognize this polish, I used it in December last year as a base for my gingerbread nails. You can check that mani out here. 

GOOD TO KNOW:

Type of polish: Shimmer.

Colour: A medium brown filled with tiny tiny silver shimmer.

Opacity: Excellent! This is ONE COAT! :D Me like!!

Drying time: Normal.

Formula: Very good! Excellent texture and it's very easy to apply! It stays where you want it to.

Brush: Very good! Thick, firm and very easy to apply with!

Shine: Very shiny on its own, but I have one coat of Seche Vite in these pictures.

Accurate colour, photo vs IRL: Accurate. What you see is what you get ;)

Grade: 3+/5 :)

This is a great brown polish but since brown isn't a favourite colour of mine I couldn't give it a higher grade than 3+ ;)

Gingerbread Nail Art - swatches

Today I want to show you my gingerbread nails which are so simple to do! Even though the design is so simple they are very effectfull! People immediately see what they are supposed to be! :D
Sometimes less is more and I really like this stylish but yet somehow childish design :) Let's take a look shall we? ;)

For this manicure I've used Depend's chocolate brown polish with the exotic name of 208 ;) and Barry M's Matte White polish. Both the buttons and the lining are made with dotting tools. One coat of Seche Vite seals the mani. Easy peasy! Try it! :D

Orly Prince Charming - swatches and review

This was one of the first brand polishes I bought. It's at least three years old but the formula is still like new :D

Did you know that taupe is French for mole? Recognize the colour? ;)

GOOD TO KNOW:

Type of polish: Cream.

Colour: A medium taupe/brown. It reminds me of melted milk chocolate :)

Collection: Orly Once Upon a Time Fall 2009.

Opacity: Great! This is two fairly thick coats. ;)

Drying time: Normal.

Formula: Very good! Not thin nor thick. Perfect! Stays where you want it to. And bare in mind ladies, that I opened and used this bottle for the first time in 2009....! The formula hasn't changed at all! That is what I call quality! :D

Brush: Nice and thick! And the cork is lovely to grab when applying! :D

Shine: Very shiny on its own, but I have one coat of Seche Vite in these pictures.

Accurate colour, photo vs IRL: Quite accurate. Best picture is the nail colour in the bottle picture. The halogen light pictures are a bit too dark brown looking.

Grade: 3+/5 :)

This polish has a lovely formula and a nice tone of taupe/brown. When I bought it in 2009 this type of colour was very hot. It's still nice today, but a bit boring to me ;) That's why I only gave it 3+. But as I said, if you are in to this type of colour this one has a great formula!!
