Holothon: Darling Diva Dreamy - swatches and review

For today's Holothon I want to show you a magic holo top coat that will turn your ordinary cream polishes into gorgeous sparkling holo polishes!

This is Dreamy from Darling Diva on top of By K Dandelion. A yellow bas diminishes the holo a bit but imagine this over a black! Or a blue! Or a green! Or a purple! Ok, you understand ;) The possibilities are endless with this holo top coat!! :D

GOOD TO KNOW:

Type of polish: Holographic top coat.

Number of coats: Two.

Formula: Very nice formula! Dries fast too.

Brush: Medium straight cut brush.

Top Coat: No.

Color accuracy in pictures: Accurate.

Grade: 4/5

It's great to be able to turn your regular creams into holos but I must say I prefer ready mixed holos. More pretty and less work for me ;)

Fish Scales Nails

I will not let my cold stop me from joining Green Wednesday! So from my sick bed I give you my scales nails :) I love how that rhymes!

The base is an amazing scattered green/blue holo from Darling Diva called Anna and the scales pattern is made with Essie No Place Like Chrome and MoYou London plate Suki Collection-06.

I wasn't sure what to call it at first but I think scales nails are pretty appropriate. What do you think?

Darling Diva Polish When Doves Cry - swatches and review

One of my favorite songs by Prince is "When Doves Cry".  So when I found out that Darling Diva had released a Prince collection this polish was my obvious choice. It's also light grey, contains tiny silver glitters and it's a holo! It basically tics all my boxes!

I also got Little Red Corvette from this collection. See swatches of that beauty here.

GOOD TO KNOW:

Type of polish: Holo/glitter.

Number of coats: Four… but so worth it :)

Formula: Nice formula. A bit thin but not runny.

Brush: Nice brush. No major complaints.

Top Coat: Yes, one coat of Seche Vite otherwise it dries a bit matte.

Color accuracy in pictures: Accurate, but as always with holo and glitter polishes - much more beautiful live!

Grade: 4+++/5

This is a stunning beauty! I love grey, glitter and holo so all together - wow! The only reason I don't give it a 5 is because of the thin formula. Four coats is a bit heavy for me.

I also used this polish as a base for one of my halloween manicures. See swatches here.

"The Birds" Nail Art

Today it's my birthday and this is the weirdest birthday manicure I've ever worn!! Lol! However, today is also the fourth day of the Halloween Challenge I'm doing this month and hence this manicure. The theme for today is "Horror Movies".

This might seem odd for some of you, but I like Alfred Hitchcock's films. There are no splatter or special effects but they are still scary as h--- from time to time! :O

Anyway, one of my favorite Hitchcock movies is "The Birds". I remember I was scared of birds for weeks after seen this film! Lol! :D And did you know there is no music at all in this film? Not a single tone! He was a pure genius that Mr Alfred Hitchcock! As per usual you can always spot him in his own films and in "The Birds" the film starts with him coming out of a pet shop specializing in, of course, birds :)

The base of this manicure is Darling Diva "When Doves Cry". I thought this cool grey was the perfect base since the color palette of this movie is pale grey/blue AND a dove is after all a type of bird ;) Lol!

The pattern is stamped with Illamasqua Boosh and MoYou plate Pro Collection-07. Please note the final touch of the evil red eyes ;) made with a tiny dotting tool and Isadora Love Crush.

Darling Diva Little Red Corvette - swatches and review

For this Holo Friday I've got a real gem for you! Inspired by the Prince song Little Red Corvette this is a polish with the same name. It's a stunning red holo glitter polish surely worthy a corvette!

GOOD TO KNOW:

Type of polish: Glitter.

Number of coats: Two.

Formula: Thick but fairly easy to control and apply. I'll probably make it thinner next time and do more coats instead.

Brush: Very good! No complaints.

Top Coat: Yes. Two coats of Seche Vite. But it's a real top coat eater! You have to apply regularly if you want to keep it smooth and shiny.

Color accuracy in pictures: Accurate. But of course much glittery and sparkly live! It was impossible to capture the glow but if you want to see more there's a little movie on instragram. I'm called jezzlan or you can click on the instagram button to the left here.

Grade: 5/5

In spite of a thick formula this is still a stunning and unique polish! Another side effect of it has been that I've got into Prince again! His greatest hits have occupied my Spotify a lot lately! Lol! ;)
