Orly Plum Pixel - swatches and review

If you want to wear a textured polish to work and you're not allowed to wear bright, bold, in-your-face colors, this is the polish for you! Nevertheless, it's the perfect party polish to the little black dress! What it lacks in color it gains in sparkle! It's a nude-ish pale plum with wonderful shine and sparkles!

GOOD TO KNOW:

Type of polish: Textured.

Number of coats: ONE!

Formula: Excellent! A pure joy to apply! Drying time is a bit slow unfortunately, about 40 minutes.

Brush: Excellent! No complaints at all! And do I have to mention the grip cap by now...? ;) Wonderful!

Top Coat: No.

Color accuracy in pictures: Accurate. But as with most textured polishes, much more sparkly and glittery live!

Grade: 4+/5

When I saw this in the bottle I didn't jump for joy, but once applied - WOW!! I didn't want to remove it for days! (Unusual for me and by the way the removing wasn't bad at all ;)) I really enjoyed wearing this almost nude but so sparkly polish! There was no chipping for days either! The only negative is the slow drying time. That was the only reason why I didn't give it a 5.

Vintage Challenge: French Bow Nails - swatches

Today on the last day of this Vintage Challenge I've got a simple but beautiful nail art to show you.

There was no theme for this nail art challenge. The only rule was to use only polishes I've showed you earlier this week. I chose the gorgeous red Zoya Posh and and the stunning plum holo China Glaze Visit Me in Prism.

This type of nail art has different names but I've chosen to call it "French Bows" because if you look at the plum tip it looks like the upper half of a bow :)

I did not use any striping tape or such. I did them by free hand. That's why they look crooked. Lol!

They did turn out a bit X-massy, but I still like the result. Fast and easy if you want to spice up your nails quickly. Maybe I'll do them again for X-mas but with white bows instead of plum ones :)

What would you call this type of nail art?

Vintage Challenge: China Glaze Visit Me in Prism - swatches and review

Today it's double holo joy for me! It's both Vintage Challenge Holo Day AND Holo Friday!

Christine and I have decided that today's theme for our Vintage Challenge is "Holo" and I've got such a treat for you! This is the pretty Visit Me in Prism from China Glaze's epic collection Kaleidoscope released in 2009. It's a pale plumish pink with a weak but beautiful holo effect.

If you want to know more about the Vintage Challenge and how to join click here.

GOOD TO KNOW:

Type of polish: Holographic.

Color: A pale plumish pink with a weaker holographic effect.

Number of coats: Three. I think it's possible to get away with two coats though.

Formula: Excellent formula! Very easy to control. When it's wet there is almost no rainbows at all but as it dries they appear. It dries fairly fast. No bald spots or holo sickness warning.

Brush: A nice brush. A bit thin but still ok.

Top Coat: No.

Color accuracy in pictures: Accurate, but as often with holo - much more vivid and beautiful live!

Grade: 5/5

To me this is almost like a nude holo polish. It's perfect when you want something less in-your-face but still amazingly beautiful! I've almost used half my bottle by now and that's a lot in my book ;) It's time to start saving on those precious drops left...

Gradient dotted nails - dotting nail art

Yesterday I did these gradient dotted nails and I REALLY like the results!! :D
They turned out much better than I could imagine!!

In artificial light

In daylight

Left: dark green dots on top - Right: Light green dots on top - Which was the best choice?

How to do these gradient dotted nails:
The only tools you need are dotting tools in two sizes! Then just dot on! :)
Finish off with a top coat when you're done.

Keep in mind that the dots should be more and bigger at the tip of the nail and that some dots should look like they are over the edge i.e half dots.

I used China Glaze's Purr-fect Plum as base and for the light green dots H&M's Wanna Peperoni and for the dark green dots Isadora's Jaded.

Do you like this nail art? Will you try it?

China Glaze Purr-fect Plum - swatches and review

This is really the perfect plum colour! It's that brown/purple/maroon colour which really ripe purple plums have! A purr-fect Autumn colour on a rainy day like today!

With flash

In daylight
A purr-fect ripe purple plum! :)

In artificial light

Close up in daylight

In halogen light

This is my purr-fect cat Smilla and she purrs A LOT! <3
GOOD TO KNOW:

Type of polish: Cream.

Colour: A rich purple plum colour that shifts in brown and maroon. The colour of a ripe purple plum! :D

Collection: China Glaze On Safari Collection Fall 2012.

Opacity: Very good! This is two coats. :D

Drying time: A bit faster than normal. ;)

Formula: Great! It applies really good and stays where it should which suprised me since the formula is rather thin actually.

Brush: Ok. A bit thin and soft and I guess the only reason I don't hate it is because of the nice formula. ;)

Shine: Very shiny on its own but I have one coat of Seche Vite in these pictures.

Accurate colour, photo vs IRL: Quite accurate, perhaps a bit more purple IRL. The daylight pictures are the most accurate.

Grade 4+/5 :)

This is a really nice polish with really good qualities! It's a purr-fect Autumn polish when you start craving those gloomy colours, and as a cat lover I looooove the name of it! It makes me purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! ;)
