Chevron Nails Tutorial

Time for another tutorial! This time it's on how to do chevron nails :)

You need three different polishes and a top coat, tools to do a clean up because it can get quite messy ;) and a bit of a patience :) Let's start shall we?

Start by painting your nails with one of the colors as base

Paint a wide diagonal line with color 1

Paint a wide line across the first line with color 2

Paint another wide like across the last line with color 3
(same color as your base color)

Add a wide line with color 1 again

Add a line with color 2 again

Add a line with color 3 again

Add another line with color 1 again

Color 2 added again. Keep adding colors in the same
order until you've reach the end of your nails.

The final result after clean up and top coat!

Witch Nail Art Tutorial

When I showed you my witch nails a few days ago some of my readers wanted a tutorial - and here it is! :)

1. Apply your base polish.

2. Draw the body by painting a circle.

3. Draw two parallel lines over and under the body.

Bend the top one up a little at the corners.

4. Paint the rest of the hat and make the top a bit pointy.

Draw the end of the broom.

5. Paint the hair and do the little feet.

6. Draw the eyes with a white polish. Let dry.

7. Draw the rest of the eyes and a long pointy witch nose.

Do some effect drawing on the broom if you want to.

8. Seal the manicure with a top coat. Done!

I used H&M's Peach Me Soon as base and then did the drawing with Barry M's Nail Art Pens. You can of course use any black, silver and white polish you like with a thin brush and dotting tools instead.

Easter Bunny and Eggs Tutorial

Happy Easter everybody!

Today I've put together a tutorial on how to do a cute Easter manicure with an Easter bunny and lots of eggs. It's fairly simple and lots of fun to do! :)

Apply base polish. Add a white circle using the nail polish brush.

Ears: do a thin line first with a thin brush and then add more volume to the ears.

Add the pink in the ears and and the nose with a thin brush.

Add the eyes doing dots in black and white in different sizes using dotting tools.

Do eggs in different colours using a large dotting tool. Apply a top coat. Done!

Kiwi Nails Tutorial

When I showed you my Kiwi Nail Art last Sunday some of you wanted a tutorial. This post is for you! :)

After applying a green base, do a white circle with the thin brush.

Then add a lot of lines with the thin brush, like you're drawing a sun! :)

Add the dots generously! Start from center and work outwards.

Let dry and then add a top coat. Done! :)

I used the following polishes (from left to right):

Sation Weed out the Wimps

Illamasqua Load

Illamasqua Boosh

 

You also need:

A thin brush

A dotting tool

Katie Nails Tutorial

When I did my Katie Nails about a month ago some of you wanted a tutorial.
Here it is! Enjoy and do a lot of Katie nails! :)

Start with a yellow base.

Add the face by using the polish brush.

Add the ears using a dotting tool.

Add the fringe using a thin brush.

Do the eyeballs using a large dotting tool.

Add the pupillaries and the ear holes using dotting tools.

Add the nose with a small dotting tool.

Add the mouth with a thin brush and finish off with a top coat. Done!

Tutorial for graphic triangle nail art

First of all, thank you so much for all your kind comments on my graphic triangle nail art last Sunday! I was so happy to read them! :D
Some of you wanted a tutorial on this manicure - and here it is! :)

You need the following:

A black polish

A white polish

A top coat

A thin brush

A pair of tweezers

Nail striping tape

Start by painting all your nails with white polish. Let it dry completely.

Now do one nail at the time.

Apply the striping tape. To make it easier for you I've done a draft of the pattern. 

Apply the striping tape according to any colour of the lines, but do all lines in the same colour after each other. For instance, all blue, all pink and finally all green.

Then your nail should look something like this:

Apply a black polish over the tape. Apply until it's opaque like this:

Wait for about a minute.

Then remove the striping tape with the pair of tweezers

in reverse order as you applied it. 

In my case it would be green, pink and finally the blue lines beacause 

I added the tape in the order of blue, pink and then green.

Let dry for a bit. Then do the other nails.

If you need to, use the thin brush to correct mistakes.

Wait until completely dry, then add one or two coats of top coat. Done! :)

Make your own gold flakes top coat - tutorial

Instead of buying an expensive 18 K gold top coat (like for example OPI The Man with the Golden Gun) you can easily make your nails look like you are wearing one! All you need is a gold polish and some plastic foil.
I've found this great tip on thebeautydepartment.com! The picture belongs to them.

How to do it:
1) First start off with a base colour.
2) To achieve the golden speckles, take a small piece of plastic foil and crinkle it up.
3) While holding most of the crinkled plastic in your hand, paint some of the gold nail polish onto the plastic. Before blotting the plastic on your nail, start by dabbing the crinkled plastic onto a paper towel to remove any excess nail polish.
4) Dab carefully on to your nails. You may have to reapply the gold polish onto the plastic bag every couple of nails.
5) Do a clean up to remove access polish.
6) To seal off the manicure apply your favorite clear top coat.

I have tried this and it's not hard, but as we all know - practise makes perfect ;)

You can also apply this technique with other colours of course. Maybe white on black for a black marble effect?
