White Lace on Pink nails

I rarely wear a polish without any nail art on it so I did this cute lace nail art on top of By K Happy Landings. A stamped lace pattern in white and then I dotted on tiny dots in gold.

The lace pattern is from a MoYou London plate in their Gothic Collection and I used Mundo des Unas White polish to print it. The dots are made with Essie Good As Gold.

By K Happy Landings has such a great glow to it and I didn't want to hide it too much so chose a sparse lace pattern. Quite happy with this manicure actually :)

By K Happy Landings - swatches and review

This is the third polish from the brand new spring collection from By K. A soft pearly vintage pink with the positive name of Happy Landings :) All polishes in By K's spring/summer collection has flight related names. Fun! :D

Great formula on this one! Beware of brushstrokes though. Only two coats so good opacity!
And as always with By K's polishes it's certified cruelty free, vegan, allergy certified and 5-free. Good for you and good for the animals! :)

I did such a cute nail art with this one as a base. I'll show you soon :)

GOOD TO KNOW:

Type of polish: Pearl.

Number of coats: Two.

Formula: Very good for a pearl polish! Easy to control and opaque. Beware of brush strokes.

Brush: Medium straight cut.

Top Coat: Yes.

Grade: 3/5

Pink isn't really my color but if you are a pink lover I'm sure you'll love it! It has a nice glow to it and I like the vintage feel of it!

Summary of By K Summer Collection 2014

In case I've got a complete polish collection I usually do a summary of it - and now it's time to sum up the wonderful summer collection from By K! I've listed the nine polishes in the order how I like them. The first one is my favorite and so on.

I've got many questions on where to get hold of these amazing polishes and if you live in Denmark you can order them from By K at: www.by-k.dk/shop

If you live outside Denmark you can get them at: skinstyle.dk/by-k-neglelak-177 They ship all over Europe.

If you live outside Europe you can contact By K directly to see if they can help you. Go to: www.by-k.dk/en-shop

Ok, time for the list! And remember they are all certified cruelty free, vegan and not less than 5-free! Great for you and for the animals :)

By K Sugar Rush - swatches and review

This is a pretty effect polish from By K that also can be used on its own. Iridescent glitter in a sheer pink base. You need three coats for it to be opaque on its own but only one thin coat to get a pretty effect on top of other polishes.

I tried Sugar Rush over all twelve of By K's summer and fall 2014 polishes but I thought it looked absolutely best over the green ones. So two pics today, one of Sugar Rush on its own and one pic with it layered over some lovely greens.

I like it best layered and absolutely best over the green blue glitter polish Waterfall (ring finger).

One coat of Sugar Rush layered over:
pinkie - By K Mermaid Cave
ring - By K Waterfall
middle - By K Glacier
index - By K Limelight

GOOD TO KNOW:

Type of polish: Glitter.

Number of coats: Three on its own. One as layered.

Formula: Good formula. On the thicker side but not gluey. Perfect glitter flow!

Brush: Thin straight cut brush.

Top Coat: Yes.

Grade: 3+/5

I'm not that much into layering and effect top coats but this is a fun top coat which also can be used on it's own. I like that different base polishes brings out different colors on the glitters.

Ballet Slipper Nails

I know these are childish but they are so cute too! It's Nail Art Sunday and these ballet slipper nails are my contribution :)

Base polish is By K Camelia Rose and then I added "the foot" with By K Pretty Nude and then I did "the straps" with Camelia Rose and a thin brush. A top coat to seal everything up. Very easy and very cute! ;)

By K Camelia Rose - swatches and review

I'm still struggeling with my awful cough but this is my last working week before a four weeks long  vacation! Even though I love my job, I can't wait for my holiday to begin. I've worked so hard this year so my poor body and mind needs a good rest now.

Today I want to show you a beautiful pink polish from By K's newest collection. This one is called Camelia Rose and it really captures the soft romantic color of a Camelia flower! Perfect for a florist like myself ;)

Excellent formula! This is two coats. Vegan, certified cruelty free and not less than 5-free too!

GOOD TO KNOW:

Type of polish: Cream.

Number of coats: Two.

Formula: Very good! Very self leveling!

Brush: Thin straight cut brush.

Top Coat: Yes.

Color accuracy in pictures: Accurate but I have noticed that on some screens it shows a bit to bright. This is a soft medium pink polish.

Grade: 4/5

The only reason this didn't get a 5 is because pink isn't my favorite color. However, I really liked to wear this one though. If you are a pink lover you'd probably adore it! :)

Throwback Thursday: China Glaze Purple Panic Neon - swatches and review

I'm doing another Throwback Thursday today! This is an old time favorite of mine which I haven't worn for years! Don't know why because it's drop dead gorgeous!!

So put on your sunglasses! This is China Glaze Purple Panic Neon! :) Released in 2005 with the Nervy Neons Collection.

GOOD TO KNOW:

Type of polish: Neon/shimmer.

Number of coats: Two.

Formula: Ok formula. Easy to control but visible brushstrokes. This could however be due to that this polish is at least four years old and was opened four years ago too.

Brush: Thin straight cut brush.

Top Coat: Yes. Dries matte otherwise.

Color accuracy in pictures: Accurate.

Grade: 5++/5

I really should wear this polish more often! It's bright, vivid and glowing and makes you smile! Perfect for summer!

Bamboo Leaves in the Rain Manicure

The theme on today's Nail Art Sunday is "Motivation" and there are so many fantastic nail art ladies out there that motivate me! Recently I've got to know Ruth on Instagram who does fantastic nail art manicures! She is marvelous at doing layering stamping and her beautiful double stamp manicures were the motivation for me to try that myself. Ruth is called @firefly5 on Instagram - check her out!

I was a bit of a chicken though with this first attempt of doing double stamping. The first layer is a very close to the base color but if you look really closely you can see the raindrops behind the bamboo leaves ;) I'll try and be more brave the next time :)

The base is the magical Butter London Disco Biscuit. The raindrops are from a MoYou plate called Tourist Collection-05 (the London plate). Polish used is By K Pink Dahlia. Second layer of stamping is from another MoYou plate, Suki Collection-06 and Essie Nothing Else Metals.

I like the result. The double stamping gives the manicure a sort of 3D-effect. I will definitely do layering stamping manicures again!

Duochrome week: Comparison Impala Sex Appeal and Barry M Mediterranean

When I tried Barry M's Mediterranean I knew I had something similar in my stash and after some searching I found the bottle I was looking for, Impala's Sex Appeal.

They look quite alike in the bottles but they are not dupes. Barry M's Mediterranean has a flash of pink which Impala's Sex Appeal don't have. This is due to the almost foil finish of Mediterranean. Sex Appeal is more smooth and also shows a darker shade of orange too.

Sex Appeal has a much stronger chemical smell than Mediterrean, uncomfortably strong actually, but I still prefer Sex Appeal over Mediterranean. It's more smooth and intense. If you are a big fan of orange/red douchromes you of course need both of these :)

In these pictures I've got Barry M Mediterranean on middle finger and pinkie. Impala Sex Appeal on pointer and ring finger.

Which one do you prefer?

Duochrome week: Barry M Caspian - swatches and review

Second out in this duochrome week is Caspian, also from the Aquarium Collection. A soft almost nude duochrome shifting in gold and pink.

GOOD TO KNOW:

Type of polish: Duochrome.

Number of coats: Two.

Formula: A nice formula. Dries fast and surprisingly few brushstrokes.

Brush: Thin straight cut brush.

Top Coat: No.

Color accuracy in pictures: Accurate.

Grade: 3-/5

This polish is very office appropriate but it didn't really win my heart. The color shifts are quite weak and they didn't match my skin tone so well.

Duochrome week: Barry M Mediterranean - swatches and review

It's been a while since I had a theme week so this week will be all about duochromes! I hope you are into them :)

I'm starting with stunning one from the fairly new Barry M Aquarium Collection. In this collection all the polishes are named by different seas. This is Mediterranean, a gorgeous sunset duochrome!

GOOD TO KNOW:

Type of polish: Duochrome.

Number of coats: Two.

Formula: A very nice formula. Very few brushstrokes. The most glittery one of this collection.

Brush: Thin straight cut.

Top Coat: No.

Color accuracy in pictures: Accurate.

Grade: 4/5

This beauty shifts from red to orange to pink which are not my colors at all really. But together like this - I like them! They make me think of a sunset or a drink :)

Ciaté Amazing Gracie - swatches and review

Happy Easter everyone! Today I've got a cool springy pale pastel pink from Ciaté for you! The name is hinting towards one of my favorite hymns - Amazing Grace. Once upon a time I could play that hymn on flute :) - but unfortunately not anymore. However, it's a pretty polish. Great for a French manicure!

GOOD TO KNOW:

Type of polish: Cream.

Number of coats: Three.

Formula: A nice formula. A tiny bit thin but not runny.

Brush: A straight cut medium brush. This polish is from Ciaté's Mini Mani Month 2013 and the brushes in the 2013 edition is so much better than the brushes from the 2012 edition!

Top Coat: Yes.

Color accuracy in pictures: Accurate.

Grade: 3-/5

This polish gives your nails a nice fresh feeling. A slight touch of VNL but it doesn't bother me that much. However, this pale pink is not a favorite shade of mine so a weak 3 from me.

This is perhaps not my best nail art ever but I think it turned out quite pretty :)

TopShop Nails Wistful - swatches and review

This is a wonderful little holo polish I bought in London on TopShop, hrm last year ;) Great formula! Perfect for Holo Friday! :)

Sorry for the picture spam but this holo deserves it :)

GOOD TO KNOW:

Type of polish: Holo.

Number of coats: Two, but it's a possible one coater.

Formula: Very good! No bald spots.

Brush: Medium straight cut.

Top Coat: Yes.

Color accuracy in pictures: Accurate. It really shifts in color depending on lighting!

Grade: 5/5

I'm not a fan of pink but I love this one because of the great formula and the soft wide rainbows! And the last picture… do I need to say more? ;)

Cherry Coke Dotticure Nail Art

For this Nail Art Sunday I got inspired by my favorite soft drink Cherry Coke (I could drink it every day ;)) and did a cute gradient dotticure using Cherry Coke's signature colors.

The base is By K Pink Dahlia and the dots are made with China Glaze Winter Berry (red) and Essence Petal to the Metal (pinkish silver).

I think it turned out pretty well and I love the dramatic color combination of magenta and red!

My inspiration :)

Holo Ballet Slippers Manicure

For this Holo Friday I've got a stamping manicure on a holo base for you :)

The base is the stunning Smitten Polish Love Actually Is All Around (swatches and review here). Then I've stamped the patterns with MoYou plate Princess Collection-11 and Essence Petal to the Metal.

Quite a cute mani boosted by the glorious holo base of course ;)

Funky French Heart Manicure

I'm still on holiday but I really wanted to join today's Nail Art Sunday since the theme is "French Manicure". So this is of course a scheduled post ;)

I wanted to do a French manicure with a twist and this is what I ended up doing - a French heart manicure! It's supposed to look like the hearts are jumping up from the red waves but I don't know if I managed to capture that… Anyhow, the hearts turned out pretty well I think :) I did them with a dotting tool.

The base is Ciaté's Amazing Grazie and the red is By K's The Sky Is The Limit. The nail art is freehand work done with a thin brush and a dotting tool.

Cute or just creepy…? ;)
