Comparison cobalt blue polishes

My favorite shade of all is cobalt blue and I own quite a few of them ;) Somehow I don't have a single dupe. They are all different. Ok, similar - but not dupes! :)

I thought it was time for another comparison. I've done one before about a year ago and if you want to read that one - click here.

This time I compared the following cobalt blue polishes:

Index finger - Color Club Bright Night

Middle finger - Nail Inc Baker Street

Ring finger - Essie Bouncer It's Me

Pinkie - Barry M Gelly Blue Grape

All are two coats and with top coat.

My favorite is Blue Grape from Barry M (pinkie). It's the darkest but most vibrant one in my eyes.

Bright Night and Bouncer It's Me (index and ring) are the two most similar ones but, as I said, not dupes if you look closely ;)

Nails Inc Baker Street - swatches and review

This is one of my absolute favorite polishes ever! The magic Baker Street from Nails Inc! The polish, the myth, the legend ;)

I've shown it before, I'm showing it now and I will show it again! Such a beautiful shade of blue and great qualities too! Looooooove it!

GOOD TO KNOW:

Type of polish: Cream.

Number of coats: Two.

Formula: Great formula! Very easy to control and very self leveling! (And my bottle has been open for at least a year now!)

Brush: Quite thin straight cut brush.

Top Coat: Yes. 

Color accuracy in pictures: Accurate. 

Grade: 5++++++++++++++++++++++++++/5

I love this polish so much! If you are a blue polish lover you need this!!

Daisy Nails for Midsummer

For this Nail Art Sunday I want to show you my Midsummer manicure. I wanted to do something summerish and with the Swedish colors blue and yellow. However, it's really hard to balance blue and yellow so I decided to add some white too. It all ended up with a blooming stampicure in the shape of daisies which are a real midsummer flowers to me.

The base is the amazing Baker Street from Nails Inc. Then I used a white Depend Stamping polish (#6700) and MoYou London stamping plate Pro Collection XL-06. The final touch was to do yellow dots with Barry M Lemon Ice Cream in all the flowers.

The result was very good! They feel summerish and midsummerish ;) I got many comments at work which is always fun! Even though I felt that most customers didn't' believe me when I said that I've done them myself… Why are people so suspicious….?

80's Gold Leopard Nails

I did this manicure just before going to the premiere of the musical "Flashdance" a few weeks ago. I wanted an 80's manicure with a print, neons and metallic and this is how I combined them :) The idea is based on manicure done by the talented Natalia at Polished Polyglot. Check her blog out!

Since there's no special theme today at Nail Art Sunday, I though I'd show you it today :) I hope you like it!

The base is Essence Gold Digger and then I stamped on a leopard patten with Konad plate m57 and Illamasqua Scorn. Then I did dots with different neons, China Glaze Flying Dragon (purple), Nails Inc Baker Street (blue), Kiss Nail Art Paint Beach Green (green), Orly Beach Cruiser (pink) and Orly Glowstick (yellow).

PS. If you get the chance to see "Flashdance" the musical - do it! It's brilliant!!

Skittlette

The task for today's Nail Art Sunday is to do a skittlette! A very fun theme which you can keep on a very easy level or do just how advanced you like. I chose to keep it very easy but I tried to convince myself that less is more ;)

I decided to chose one polish as starting point and chose the others after that one. So I chose Nails Inc Sugar House Lane (middle finger) and chose the others to match that one. I ended up with OPI Solitaire on pointer finger, Illamasqua Scorn on ring finger and Barry M Vanilla on thumb and pinkie.

And finally a huge thank you for all your birthday wishes yesterday! They really warmed my heart!

Peacock Nails - swatches

If I could only wear three polishes for the rest of my life it's fully possible that I could choose the three polishes that I've used for today's Nail Art Sunday! I love that blue Baker Street and that green Kiko polish! And you can do soooo much fun with that fantastic pale gold Luxe!

For example you can do these peacock nails! I've used the Kiko polish as base and then I've stamped on a sort of peacock pattern with Orly Luxe and Bundler Monster plate BM-212. To get that extra peacock feeling I did small blue dots in the eye of each feather. Finally one coat of Seche Vite to seal the manicure.

I'm very pleased with the result actually! The colors look great together and there's definitely a peacock feeling to them. I hope you like them too!

Comparison Cobalt Blue Polishes

I've been bad at doing comparisons lately so to make up for that I hereby give you the second comparison this week ;)
This time I'm comparing my favourite shade of blue - cobalt blue!

All polishes are two coats with one coat of top coat.

The Essie polish on the index finger looked opaque to me but somehow the camera captured it with a bit of vnl. In reality it looks opaque.

I compared these four polishes: (from left to right)

Comparison Nails Inc Baker Street vs H&M Blue My Mind

For this Blue Monday I won't show you a new blue polish. Instead I'll give you a comparison of my two absolutely favourite blue cream polishes!! They are Nails Inc Baker Street and H&M Blue My Mind :D
I thought they would be more alike than what they really are! In my (laquer)head they were almost dupes but I was wrong!
Anyway, they are both are soooo gorgeous and they both have excellent qualities! The only really biiiiiiig difference is the price... Baker Street is £11 ($17 or SEK 135) and Blue My Mind is £4 ($6 or SEK 40).

Baker street is more cornflower blue and Blue My Mind is more of a bright medium blue.
I can't really decide which one I like the most... It used to be Blue My Mind - until I bought and tried Baker Street... Now I'm confused ;)

Nails Inc Baker Street - swatches and review

This is one of the polishes I bought at the new Sephora store. This has been a lemming of mine for ages! I don't know why I haven't bought it because it's not hard to find. Perhaps I was afraid to be disappointed once I tried it on... This was however not the case! I absolutely adore it!!! I love love love this cornflower blue cream polish!! It's my most perfect contribution to Blue Monday - so far ;)

GOOD TO KNOW ABOUT BAKER STREET:

Type of polish: Cream.

Colour: A bright cornflower blue.

Opacity: Very good! This is two coats but if you do a thicker coat you can get away with one ;)

Drying time: Normal.

Formula: Excellent! Perfect texture and so easy to apply!

Brush: Very good! Not thin but not thick either. Firm and easy to work with.

Shine: Shiny on its own, but I have one coat of top coat in these pictures.

Accurate colour, photo vs IRL: It's a bit darker blue IRL, but still very bright.

Grade: 5++++++++++/5 :D

I can't really describe how much I love this polish!! To me this is the perfect blue polish and the formula is absolutely perfect!! :D I can't however decide if I love this more than my other blue favourite - H&M's Blue My Mind... I think I'll have to do a comparison of these two polishes soon ;)

Report from the new Sephora store

Yesterday I visited my first Sephora store ever! I went to the new one in Täby, just outside Stockholm. I was of course hunting for new nail polishes and untried nail polish brands ;)
Sadly I was a bit disappointed... The only new brand to me was their own Sephora line. But a brand I think they are alone to retail in Sweden is Nails Inc and they makes great polishes!
Then they had Sally Hansen and OPI and some exclusive brands like Dior and Chanel. I had hoped for brands like Illamasqua, Nars, Sephora by OPI etc.
Anyway, here are some pictures from the store!

I decided to give Sephora's own polish remover a try. I also got a lemming of mine (yes!yes!yes!), that is Nails Inc Baker Street :D Finally I had to try one polish from Sephora's own line so I picked up a blue flake polish called Twinkle Twinkle.

If you live in Stockholm, or if you visit Stockholm, I think you should give this store a try anyhow! ;)
A little bird also whispered in my ear that a new Sephora store will open in Stockholm City but the date is not decided yet. There is also one store in Malmö, in southern Sweden.

Glitter test on Sugar House Lane from Nails Inc

A while ago I wore the lovely Sugar House Lane from Nail Inc, a nude base packed with black and silver glitter, a so called milky glitter polish.
Before removing it I wanted to try out some different glitters on it to get a kind of layering effect. Here's the result of my glitter layering test! :)

I used the following glitter polishes:

Thumb: Ciaté Enchanted Rose

Index: Orly Halo

Middle: H&M Jo is in The House

Ring: Ciaté Glass Slipper

Pinkie: Ciaté Magic Carpet

I like index and middle finger the best. Probably because they are the most neutral glitters. Orly's Halo is a silver/gold glitter and H&M´s Joe is The House is a holo glitter polish.

Which combination do you like the best?

Nails Inc Sugar House Lane - swatches and review

Today I want to show you a gem in my collection! A milky nude glitter polish from Nails Inc called Sugar House Lane. It's part of the Nails Inc's Special Effects collection. They call this range "Sprinkles".
Inspired by Gelic' and many others too, I have developed a grave addiction to milky glitter polishes ;) I just love them! :D
This one is hand delivered directly from London when my boyfriend was there last Autumn.

Nails Inc name their polishes after places in London and this one is no exception. Sugar House Lane is a street in London named after a building called Sugar House which is situated in this street. Sugar House is a Victorian building once used to store and pack sugar hence the name :)
Enough rambling, let's look at this great polish! :)

GOOD TO KNOW:

Type of polish: Milky glitter.

Colour: A dark nude base packed with small round black and silver glitters.

Opacity: Very good! This is two coats, but if you do one thick coat you can get away with it :D

Drying time: Normal.

Formula: Very good! Perfect texture and so easy to apply! Stays where you want it to.

Brush: Very good! Thick, firm and very easy to apply with! :D

Shine: Very shiny on its own, but I have one coat of Seche Vite in these pictures. It leaves your nails with a bit of a rough surface due to all glitters, so if you want smooth nails I recommend at least two coats of a top coat. Sminkan would have taken three or four coats ;)

Accurate colour, photo vs IRL: Accurate. What you see is what you get ;) Well, it's more glittery IRL actually :) The silver glitter shows off more. When the silver glitters have a bit of nude polish on them they look white, but when they are at the top layer they are silvery and glittery :)

Grade: 5/5 :D

I like this polish! It's a fun combo of nude, black, white and silver! And the formula is great too!! The opacity is amazing considering it's a milky glitter polish!!
Maybe it's not the perfect match for my skintone :/ but the polish itself is gorgeous! I like that it almost looks as marble or a birds egg at a distance :D

Nails Inc Primrose Hill - swatches and review

This is a lovely polish in a gorgeous bottle! Just look at that black and holographic chrystal cap!! I love it!! :D

GOOD TO KNOW:

Type of polish: Shimmer.

Colour: A lilac grey.with a pink/purple iridescent shimmer which gives it a certain duochrome effect. :)

Opacity: Great! This is two coats. :)

Drying time: Normal.

Formula: Excellent! Not thin nor thick and it stays where you want it to. The first coat was a bit streaky but a second coat fixed that! ;)

Brush: Nice and fairly thick! The cork looks a bit big and unwieldy but it's actually ok to work with.

Shine: Very shiny on its own, but I have one coat of Seche Vite in these pictures.

Accurate colour, photo vs IRL: Quite accurate. Since it has a kind of duochrome effect it's quite hard to capture, but mostly it looks like the nail colour in the bottle picture (top picture). In some lights it's more grey, in others more lilac and occationally it looks pink and even green-ish :D

Grade: 4/5 :)

This is a really pretty polish which is quite unique! I don't have anything like it in my collection anyhow. Not my favourite colour but I like it, and let's face it - I would buy anything with a cap like that!! LOL! :D It's a shame I keep in a drawer... :/
