This is how it looked outside my window today! Jippe!! :D
GOOD TO KNOW:

Type of polish: Shimmer.

Colour: Dark red with lots of bright red shimmer which gives it an almost satin finish! In some lighting it looks like it's glowing from within! Beautiful!! :D

Collection: Orly Naughty or Nice Holiday Collection 2012.

Opacity: Great! This is two coats. :)

Drying time: Normal.

Formula: Very good! Nice texture and easy to work with. Stays where you want it to. :D

Brush: Perfect! Thick and firm! Very easy to apply with. Do I have to mention the lovely cork? ;)

Shine: Very shiny on its own, but I have one coat of Seche Vite in these pictures.

Accurate colour, photo vs IRL: Quite accurate. Best pictures are the daylight pictures. This is a dark red polish. The pictures taken in halogen light are a bit to bright red looking. And as always ;) it's better looking IRL of course! ;)

Grade: 5/5 :D

I'm not a huge fan of red polishes but this one is absolutely gorgeous! Much more gorgeous than I thought it would be actually! This is one of the most beautiful red polishes I've seen for a long time and the formula is great too! I'm almost gobsmacked! ;) If you are into reds this one is a must!!

Do you like this red polish ladies?
Are you into reds or do you find them too boring? ;)

Nfu Oh #52 Matte - swatches

Do you remember when I wore Nfu Oh #52 toghether with Illamasqua Phallic last Saturday? (If not refresh your memory here! ;)) Look how cool Nfu Oh #52 got when I made it matte!!! :D

To the left it's shiny - to the right it's matte

When it's matte I think it looks like the skin of some exotic snake or like glowing stones lit up by a UV-lamp! It also looks more metallic and I think it's even more beautiful as matte!!

Which version of this mani do you prefer?
The shiny or the matte one?

Nails Inc Primrose Hill - swatches and review

This is a lovely polish in a gorgeous bottle! Just look at that black and holographic chrystal cap!! I love it!! :D

GOOD TO KNOW:

Type of polish: Shimmer.

Colour: A lilac grey.with a pink/purple iridescent shimmer which gives it a certain duochrome effect. :)

Opacity: Great! This is two coats. :)

Drying time: Normal.

Formula: Excellent! Not thin nor thick and it stays where you want it to. The first coat was a bit streaky but a second coat fixed that! ;)

Brush: Nice and fairly thick! The cork looks a bit big and unwieldy but it's actually ok to work with.

Shine: Very shiny on its own, but I have one coat of Seche Vite in these pictures.

Accurate colour, photo vs IRL: Quite accurate. Since it has a kind of duochrome effect it's quite hard to capture, but mostly it looks like the nail colour in the bottle picture (top picture). In some lights it's more grey, in others more lilac and occationally it looks pink and even green-ish :D

Grade
: 4/5 :)

This is a really pretty polish which is quite unique! I don't have anything like it in my collection anyhow. Not my favourite colour but I like it, and let's face it - I would buy anything with a cap like that!! LOL! :D It's a shame I keep in a drawer... :/

Did you like this polish?
Isn't the cap just wonderful?? ;)

Did you know that taupe is French for mole? Recognize the colour? ;)

GOOD TO KNOW:

Type of polish: Cream.

Colour: A medium taupe/brown. It reminds me of melted milk chocolate :)

Collection: Orly Once Upon a Time Fall 2009.

Opacity: Great! This is two fairly thick coats. ;)

Drying time: Normal.

Formula: Very good! Not thin nor thick. Perfect! Stays where you want it to. And bare in mind ladies, that I opened and used this bottle for the first time in 2009....! The formula hasn't changed at all! That is what I call quality! :D

Brush: Nice and thick! And the cork is lovely to grab when applying! :D

Shine: Very shiny on its own, but I have one coat of Seche Vite in these pictures.

Accurate colour, photo vs IRL: Quite accurate. Best picture is the nail colour in the bottle picture. The halogen light pictures are a bit too dark brown looking.

Grade
: 3+/5 :)

This polish has a lovely formula and a nice tone of taupe/brown. When I bought it in 2009 this type of colour was very hot. It's still nice today, but a bit boring to me ;) That's why I only gave it 3+. But as I said, if you are in to this type of colour this one has a great formula!!

Penguin nails for NailArt Sunday - swatches and tutorial

The theme for today's NailArt Sunday is "Birds". After a lot of thinking I decided to do these cute penguin nails! Since I'm working a lot this weekend I pre-did them and when I was about to schedule them Blogger went crazy and published them instead!!! Aaaarrrggghhh!!! Panic!!! So for those of you who haven't already seen them - here is my version of penguin nail art! :)

I used the following polishes: (from left to right)
Barry M Matt White
China Glaze Life Preserver
Illamasqua Boosh

I also used some dotting tools and a thin brush.

I did the penguin mani in the following order:
Black base
White chest
Eyes
Beak and (happy) feet ;)
One coat of a top coat
Done! :D

What do you think of these penguin nails...? :)
Anything you would try yourself?

Nfu Oh #52 - swatches and review

Today I want to show you a successful combination of two polishes:
Nfu Oh #52 and Illamasqua Phallic!
Nfu Oh #52 is a green/blue flake polish and Phallic is a midnight blue shimmer polish. More swatches and a review of Phallic can be found here.
Look how nice they go together! :D A match made in heaven! ;)

Sometimes it's more blue...

...and sometimes it's more green :D

In daylight

In daylight

GOOD TO KNOW:

Type of polish: Flake.

Colour: The flakes go from dark green to medium blue and sometimes to turquoise depeding on the lighting. The flakes lie in a blurple (a purple-ish blue) thin base.

Opacity: Hard to say since I'm layering it, but I've read that it's possible to get it opaque on its own. This is one coat over two coats of Phallic.

Drying time: Normal.

Formula: Very good! Quite thick, but still surprisingly easy to work with. Stays where you want it to.

Brush: Good! Nice and thick! Almost too thick for the smaller nails ;) but still very easy to apply with.

Shine: Very shiny on its own, but I have two coats of Seche Vite in these pictures. You don't really need any top coat, but I'm working a long shift as a florist today and I need all the protection I can get! ;)

Accurate colour, photo vs IRL: Accurate! Better looking IRL of course! ;) It has a real depth and an almost metallic shine which don't really show off in the pictures.

Grade: 5/5 :D

I got this polish through a swap with Sleeping Elin and I'm very pleased with it! :D
It reminds me of mermaids some how ;) Next time I'll try it over a dark green polish I think.

Do you like flake polishes?
Over what polish would you layer this over?

GOOD TO KNOW:

Type of polish: Holographic.

Colour: Silver with a strong holo effect! :D

Collection: Color Club Halo Collection 2012.

Opacity: Great! This is two coats, but I think you can get away with one coat if you're not that fussy ;)

Drying time: Normal.

Formula: Very good! Nice texture and easy to work with. Stays where you want it to. The formula of Cherubic from the same collection was a bit better though. Even easier to apply!

Brush: Perfect! Thick and firm! Very easy to apply with.

Shine: Very shiny on its own, so NO top coat in these pictures.

Accurate colour, photo vs IRL: Accurate! Better looking IRL of course! ;) Really strong rainbows!

Grade: 5/5 :D

This is a wonderful and very holographic silver holo with very good qualities!
Well done CC! ;)

Do you like this silver holo ladies?

OPI GoldenEye - swatches and review

Today is the day before pay day here in Sweden and I wanted to feel rich (in all my poverty) ;) so I applied this gold polish and wow! I feel like a million dollars now! ;)

In artificial light

In artificial light

In daylight

In halogen light

In artificial light

GOOD TO KNOW:

Type of polish: Glitter (almost foil).

Colour: An "old gold" or antique gold colour. A more yellow kind of gold colour - with sparkles :)

Collection: OPI Skyfall Collection Holiday 2012.

Opacity: Ok. This is three thin coats.

Drying time: A bit faster than normal. :)

Formula: Good! Maybe a bit thin, but not runny. It still stays where you want it to.

Brush: Ok. A bit small, but since this is the mini bottle I can't complain ;)

Shine: Very shine on its own, but I have one coat of Seche Vite in these pictures. The gold glitters are more like micro flakes so it leaves a surprisingly smooth surface to your nails. For a totally smooth feeling I recommend a top coat though.

Accurate colour, photo vs IRL: Accurate! What you see is what you get! ;) But, as always, much more beautiful IRL! ;)

Grade
: 4+/5 :D

This is a uniqe gold polish in many ways and it has fairly good qualities too! But, as many of you already have pointed out, why? why? why? didn't they name it GoldFinger??? ;)
I still like less yellow gold polishes better, like Orly's Luxe. That's why I didn't give GoldenEye 5/5 ;)

Do you like this type of gold polish?
Or is it to yellow...?
