Jumping Eggs Nail Art - swatches

The theme for today's Nail Art Sunday is (surprise, surprise!! ;)) Easter!! :D My contribution to this event is a manicure I've chosen to call "Jumping Eggs" :)
And nooo the pictures are not blurry, it's the optical illusion of jumping eggs! ;) The effect is created by doing dots in three different colours almost on top of each other. The colours have to be quite similar, but not too alike either.

I've used the following polishes: (from left to right)
Essence The Boy Next Door
Barry M Blueberry
Barry M Blue Moon
Barry M Matte White

You also need a dotting tool.

How do you like this mani?
Fun or just exhausting to look at? ;)

Easter Bunny and Eggs Tutorial

Happy Easter everybody!
Today I've put together a tutorial on how to do a cute Easter manicure with an Easter bunny and lots of eggs. It's fairly simple and lots of fun to do! :)

Apply base polish. Add a white circle using the nail polish brush.
Ears: do a thin line first with a thin brush and then add more volume to the ears.
Add the pink in the ears and and the nose with a thin brush.
Add the eyes doing dots in black and white in different sizes using dotting tools.
Do eggs in different colours using a large dotting tool. Apply a top coat. Done!
I used the following polishes: (from left to right)
Orly Coachella Dweller
Illamasqua Boosh
Ciaté Big Yellow Taxi
Barry M Matte White
Eyeko Saucy Red Polish
China Glaze Four Leaf Clover
Kiss Nail Art Bikini Pink
Essence The Boy Next Door
Barry M Shocking Pink

You also need a thin brush and some dotting tools in different sizes.

Orly Miss Conduct - swatches and review

Even though it's Good Friday today it's also Holo Friday! Yay! :D
So today I want to show you a polish that was released as part of a X-mas collection, but as I feel is a all-year-around-polish :) This is the gorgeous Miss Conduct from Orly's Naughty or Nice Collection! A stunning magenta with lots of holo glitter! :D

GOOD TO KNOW ABOUT MISS CONDUCT:

Type of polish: Holographic glitter.

Colour: A berry magenta packed with holographic glitter.

Collection: Orly Naughty or Nice Collection Holiday 2012.

Opacity: Very good! This is two coats.

Formula: Excellent! A perfect formula which is super easy to apply!

Brush: Excellent! No complaints at all! And the grip cap is so comfortable to grip whilst painting!

Shine: Very shiny on its own but I have one coat of Seche Vite in these pictures.

Accurate colour, photo vs IRL: Quite accurate! Perhaps a bit less purple looking IRL. And much more sparkling and glittering IRL!! It really is a beautiful polish this one!

Grade: 5/5 :D

This polish is absolutely gorgeous! The base colour is beautiful and the holo glitter is really intense and it really shows off in the sun! I don't care it's from a X-mas collection! I'll wear this all year around! The formula and the brush is awesome AND it's a big 3-free polish! A well deserved 5/5! :D

Do you like Miss Conduct?
Do you think it's a X-mas polish only...?

Smitten Polish Confection - swatches and review

Today I want to show you a beautiful indie polish from Smitten Polish called Confection. It's a milky white full of adorable multicoloured glitter! It's absolutely stunning in my opinion!
The formula is not jelly nor cream, but something in between, a crelly :)

GOOD TO KNOW ABOUT CONFECTION:

Type of polish: Crelly with glitter.

Colour: A milky white crelly with multicoloured glitter in different sizes and shapes. I can see turquoise, purple, pink, green and yellow glitter.

Collection: Smitten Polish Confection Collection Autumn 2012.

Opacity: Good! This is three coats which is good for a for a milky glitter polish.

Formula: Very good! Very easy to work with and there is no need for glitter fishing ;)

Brush: Very good! No complaints at all ;)

Shine: Very shiny on its own but I have one coat of Seche Vite in these pictures. Despite of all the glitter it gets perfectly smooth with only one coat of top coat.

Accurate colour, photo vs IRL: Accurate! What you see is what you get :)

Grade: 5/5 :D

If you are into milky glitters, like me ;) this polish will definitely be your cup of tea! The formula is great and the mix of glitter is really gorgeous! The yellow glitters give this polish that little extra umphf, if you know what I mean? ;)

Do you like Confection?
Are you into milky glitter polishes?

Illamasqua Mottle - swatches and review

For this Green Wednesday I want to show you a milky green glitter polish from Illamasqua's limited edition collection "Imperfection". It really shouldn't be called imperfection because this is actually perfection in a bottle! Two totally effortless coats and you've got headturning nails looking like spring coloured birds eggs!

GOOD TO KNOW ABOUT MOTTLE:

Type of polish: Cream with glitter.

Colour: A pale pastel green with tiny black glitter and large black round and hexagon-shaped glitter.

Collection: Illamasqua Imperfection Limited Edition Collection Spring 2013.

Opacity: Excellent! This is two coats which is awesome for a milky glitter polish!

Formula: Excellent! The formula on this polish is PERFECT!! It's soooo easy to apply! The best formula I've seen in quite a while actually.

Brush: Excellent! Just perfect! Super easy to work with. And as always with Illamasqua's polishes I love the fact that you can remove the big cap and work with a smaller cap which is underneath.

Shine: Very shiny on its own but I have one coat of Seche Vite in these pictures. Despite of all the glitter it gets perfectly smooth with only one coat of top coat.

Accurate colour, photo vs IRL: Quite accurate! Perhaps a tiny tiny bit darker green IRL.

Grade: 5++++++++/5 :D

Right now I'm in a fight with Illamasqua on some missing nail polishes so it bothers me a bit to give this Illamasqua polish such a high grade ;) But I can't give it a lower grade!! This is pure perfection in a nail polish bottle! It's bloody perfect! The colour, the glitter, the formula, the brush - everything!!
I keep wondering how they've managed to make a cream polish which still doesn't cover up all the glitter...? Amazing!
This is a limited edition colour - get it before it's too late! ;) But buy it in a shop and not online if possible... I'll tell you all about my bother with Illamasqua when everything is sorted... :/

What do you think of Mottle?
Isn't it the perfect Easter polish? ;)

Orly High on Hope - swatches and review

One of the few perks with working week-ends is that you sometimes have a week-day off and today I had such a day! :) So today I had a lie-in, took a long walk and then spent a few hours at my hairdresser's :) So my Monday has been anything but blue ;) but nevertheless - today it's still Blue Monday! ;)
I'll continue on the Orly path and today I give you High on Hope from their new spring collection!

GOOD TO KNOW ABOUT HIGH ON HOPE:

Type of polish: Shimmer with duochrome effect.

Colour: A dusky medium blue packed with a duochrome shimmer that shifts from orange to pink. I can also see some sparse purple shimmer.

Collection: Orly Hope & Freedom Fest Spring 2013.

Opacity: Very good! This is two coats.

Formula: Very good! A nice formula which is easy to apply if you apply it with thin coats. Perhaps a tiny bit thin but not runny.

Brush: Good. A bit thinner than the "normal" Orly brush, but the grip cap is amazing to work with!

Shine: Very shiny on its own but I have one coat of Seche Vite in these pictures.

Accurate colour, photo vs IRL: Quite accurate! Depending on the lighting the shimmer shifts from pink to orange (if you enlarge the pictures you can see a hint of the duochrome effect) and this also effects the shade of blue which can look both darkblue, blurple or dusky navy blue. A fun effect but oooh so hard to capture! ;)

Grade: 4/5 :)

I think I would have liked this polish better without the duochrome shimmer... To me this is a little bit too much going on at the same time... But it's a wonderful blue polish and perhaps I just need to get used to this effect... ;)
High on Hope is a big 3-free polish and in Sweden you can get it at Åhléns, nelly.com and eleven.se.

How do you like High on Hope?
Did you have a good or Blue Monday today? ;)

Shine: Very shiny on its own but I have one coat of Seche Vite in these pictures.

Accurate colour, photo vs IRL: Quite accurate! Depending on the light and what you wear, this polish looks either more grey or more blue.

Grade: 5++/5 :D

I LOVE this polish!! It's soooo my cup of tea! I love both pale blue and grey so this is like X-mas Eve to me!! :D The formula is great too and it's also big 3-free! :D

Orly Coachella Dweller - swatches and review

Let's continue looking at the new spring collection from Orly - "Hope & Freedom Fest"! :D
This is the wonderful avocado green Coachella Dweller! A perfect contribution to this Green Wednesday! :D
By the way, did you know that avocado also is called alligator pear? :) That name is perfect when you think of what an avocado looks like!! :D

GOOD TO KNOW ABOUT COACHELLA DWELLER:

Type of polish: Cream.

Colour: A dusky pale avocado green.

Collection: Orly Hope & Freedom Fest Spring 2013.

Opacity: Very good! This is two coats.

Formula: Excellent! A great formula which is easy to apply!

Grade: 5/5 :D

I really like this shade of green! It's not a mint green and not an ordinary avocado green. It's a unique green in my collection and I love it! The formula is great and it's big 3-free! It feels very spring-y!! :D

How do you like Coachella Dweller?
Do you think it's spring-y too? ;)
