Barry M Papaya - swatches and review

Today I'll do a review of a really fresh polish with a sort of spring feeling to it :) This is Papaya from Barry M. It's an orange peach, the same colour as the inside of a papaya - hence the name ;)

GOOD TO KNOW ABOUT PAPAYA:

Type of polish: Cream (the bottle says Gelly but it's not even a crelly).

Colour: An orange peach.

Opacity: Very good! This is two coats.

Formula: Excellent! A very nice formula which is very easy to apply.

Brush: Very good! Very nice to apply with.

Shine: Very shiny on its own so I have no top coat in these pictures. It really is a high-shine polish as it says on the bottle!

Accurate colour, photo vs IRL: Quite accurate. Perhaps a bit brighter irl.

Grade: 3+/5 :)

I 'm not a big fan of these kind of colours but when my boyfriend got this for me in London I had to try it and I actually liked it more then I first thought! It's a really bright and happy colour (even though it's pretty close to plaster colour ;))
The formula is great and perhaps it will look better on tanned skin...? I'll probably never know because I have already given it away to a very happy lady ;)

Do you like Papaya?
Have you tried any of the other Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine polishes?

Jindie Nails Burrrberry - swatches and review

It's time to show another indie polish! This time it's the pretty Burrrberry - and yes, it's supposed to be three r:s in Burrr ;)

GOOD TO KNOW ABOUT BURRRBERRY:

Type of polish: Milky glitter.

Colour: Different blue and magenta metallic and holo glitters in different shapes and sizes in a crelly white base.

Collection: Jindie Nails Winter Chic Collection 2012.

Opacity: Good! This is three coats.

Formula: Very good! A nice formula which is easy to apply.

Brush: Very good! No complaints.

Shine: Very shiny on its own, but I have one coat of Seche Vite top coat in these pictures.

Accurate colour, photo vs IRL: Quite accurate. The only thing I quite didn't manage to capture is the holo effect of the glitters. They are really pretty in the right lighting!

Grade: 4/5 :)

As you might know by now, I'm really into milky glitter polishes and I got really excited when I could borrow this from a friend! But perhaps I wasn't in the right glitter-mood ;) because this is not a top mark for me. It's still really pretty though and a 4 out of 5 is not bad at all, is it? :) Perhaps it's more of a winter polish ;)
PS. It's not fun at all to remove... :/ I had to do foil packs.

Union Jack Heart Manicure

The theme for today's Nail Art Sunday is "Union Jack" which is the flag of the United Kingdom :) For an Anglophile like me this is heavenly! :D Unfortunately my week has been totally and utterly crazy with work and other matters so I only ended up doing an accent nail, but hey, it's better than nothing ;)

The base polish is "Cream" from Gina Tricot and then I've also added a holo top coat from INM Northern Lights for that special sparkle ;) By the way, this is my favourite holo top coat :D It dries in seconds and it's really beautiful!

I made the Union Jack heart by cutting out a heart from a nail wrap I actually bought in London. The brand of the nail wraps is called Nail Rock and this also happens to be an English brand :)

Holo Butterflies Nail Art

Today I'm just going to show you a simple stamped manicure - but made with only holo polishes :D
This is Catrice Dirty Berry with stamped butterflies!
The red butterflies are made with Jade Vermelho Surreal and the blue butterflies are made with Color Club Blue Heaven.
I've used Konad Plate m41 to stamp on the butterflies.
The pattern is very subtle but still quite pretty in my opinion ;)

Holographic Roses Nail Art - swatches

On this Holo Friday I won't show you any new holo polish. Instead I'll show you some holo nail art! :) When you look at these pictures, please bare in mind that this is my first attempt ever to do roses like this with a thin brush... The roses are faaaar from perfect but I like the red against the turquoise and the holo effect is really pretty :)

I used the following polishes: (from left to right)
Illamasqua Serenity
Essie Stylenomics
Eyeko Saucy Red Polish
Jade Vermelho Surreal
Color Club Angel Kiss

First I did the roses and stem with the cream polishes and a thin brush.
Then I added the holo effect with the same thin brush.
One coat of Seche Vite. Done! :)

Do you like this mani or does it look like
it's been done by a five-year-old? ;)
Have you tried to do roses like this or in any other way?

H&M Purple Mist - swatches and review

I normally like and show you most bright in-your-face colours but today I want to show you a quite neutral shade but with an edge ;)
I got this on a sale on H&M for half price. I probably wouldn't have bought is at full price - I admit that ;) But it's still a pretty shade which is kind of hard to describe... A lilac/pink/nude shimmer? ;) Anyhow, it's got excellent coverage for such a pale shimmer!! This is two coats.

GOOD TO KNOW ABOUT PURPLE MIST:

Type of polish: Shimmer.

Colour: A pale dusky lilac leaning towards pink packed with pink and silver shimmer.

Opacity: Very good! This is two coats! That's actually excellent for a pale shimmer polish, at least in my book!

Formula: Very good! A nice formula which is easy to apply.

Brush: Very good! Nice to apply with.

Shine: Very shiny on its own so I have no top coat in these pictures.

Accurate colour, photo vs IRL: Quite accurate! The shimmer was really hard to capture but it does transfer on to the nails. A bit more lilac looking IRL. The pictures show it a little bit too pink I think.

Grade: 3/5 :)

I 'm not a huge fan of pale nudelike polishes but this one has a very pretty shimmer that doesn't really show in my pictures. It was extremely hard to capture the shimmer!!
I think this would be a prefect workwear polish if you have a job that requires a more subtle polish. I have the luxury to be able to wear what ever I like on my job. As a creative florist the crazier polish the better!! ;) Lol! :D

How do you like Purple Mist?
Do you have to think of what polish you wear to work?

LMNP Cash Machine Green - swatches and review

It feels really weird reviewing my own polish ;) but here goes!
LMNP does of course stand for Little Miss Nailpolish - which is me! ;) I franked this little beauty a few weeks ago and I'm quite pleased with the result actually! :D And it couldn't be a better day to show it than today on Green Wednesday! :)
I wanted to create a dollar green base and hence the name "Cash Machine Green" :)
This polish is inspired by a song called "The 2 of Us" by the British band Suede. In this song one line of lyrics is "Two silhouettes by a cash machine make a lovers dance".
Cash Machine Green is part of a collection which is inspired by Suede's amazing album "Dog Man Star". Enough rambling ;) here it is!

GOOD TO KNOW ABOUT CASH MACHINE GREEN:

Type of polish: Cream with glitter.

Colour: A medium green filled with small round black and bright red glitter.

Opacity: Very good! This is two coats.

Formula: Excellent! A very nice formula which is very easy to apply.

Brush: Very good! Nice and easy to work with (and yes it's a Mavala brush ;))

Shine: Shiny on its own but I have one coat of Seche Vite in these pictures.

Accurate colour, photo vs IRL: Accurate. What you see it's what you get! ;)

Grade: 4/5 :)

I'm quite happy with this polish. It turned out quite similar to dollar green and the formula is actually great! But as I said it feels really weird to review your own polish so I'm going to send this little darling to a great green lover for a more honest test ;)

World Premiere! LMNP Dog Man Star Collection

Today is the world premiere of my own collection "Dog Man Star"! :D It's nothing special really, just three polishes I franked a couple of weeks ago. LMNP does of course stand for Little Miss Nailpolish ;)
I've named this collection after my favourite album "Dog Man Star" made by my favourite band "Suede" or "London suede" as they are called in the US.
Each polish (both name and colour) is inspired by a song from this album.

Illamasqua Serenity - swatches and review

On this lovely Blue Monday I want to show you an amazing turquoise polish from Illamasqua! Turquoise is after all blue-green ;) Meet Serenity! :D I think this is my most beautiful turquoise polish in my whole collection right now! It's so bright and ....turquoise! :D I love it! The formula is great too!
Serenity is part of Illamasqua's rubber finish collection but I liked it more with a top coat on.

Without a top coat it has a rubber finish

GOOD TO KNOW ABOUT SERENITY:

Type of polish: Cream with a rubber finish.

Colour: A bright turquoise leaning to blue.

Opacity: Very good! This is two coats.

Formula: Excellent! A very nice formula which is very easy to apply.

Brush: Excellent! No complaints at all! There is a smaller cap underneath the big one.

Shine: Dries to a rubber finish which is kind of cool but I have one coat of Seche Vite top coat in these pictures.

Accurate colour, photo vs IRL: Quite accurate. Perhaps a bit less blue looking IRL. It's a turquoise leaning to blue but it's definitely turquoise ;)

Grade: 5+++++++++++/5 :D

I LOVE this polish! It's sooo beautiful! A bright turquoise leaning to blue! My favourite colour!! The formula and brush is great too! If you don't like the rubber finish you can just add a top coat ;)

Lucky Necklace Nail Art - swatches

It's Nail Art Sunday today! :D My inspiration for this manicure is a Moomin card I got from my lovely brother. You can see it below. It shows the Snork Maiden with a pearl necklace and that triggered my creativity :) This is the result:

I used Barry M Papaya, Essie Stylenomics, dotting tools and stickers
My source of inspiration :)

After the base polish Papaya I applied the four leaf clover stickers and then dotted the strings of pearls with dotting tools and Stylenomics. I sealed the mani with one coat of Seche Vite. It's a really easy and straight forward manicure! :)

How do you like this manicure?
Are you familiar with the Snork Maiden from the Moomin characters? :)

Orly Hope & Freedom Fest Spring Collection 2013 - A summary

It's time to sum up Orly's Spring Collection 2013 - Hope & Freedom Fest!
This collection consists of six colours - two creams, two shimmers and two glitters. Orly's inspiration for this collection is the joy and energy that creates when people come together at festivals, concerts and such.

The bottles hold 18 ml each and they have the gorgeous grip cap which is so comfortable to work with! In Sweden you can get them at Åhléns, nelly.com and eleven.se and the are available now.

After trying them all I've made a list starting with my favourite and then descending. Click on the pictures to see more swatches and read a full review of each polish!

Boho Bonnet
Coachella Dweller
Peaceful Opposition
High on Hope
Elation Generation
Melodious Utopia
Almost the whole collection on one hand :)
Orly's inspiration picture

The formula of the glitters were great! The formula of the creams was very good but the formula on the shimmers were a bit on the thin side (not runny though).
The brushes in this collection were a bit thinner than normal which is a minus in my book since I like wide brushes ;)

I really like this collection though! It's a great combination of finishes and colours! I will wear them a lot this spring and upcoming summer!

How do you like this collection?
Would you have put them in another order of favourites?
Would you like to have them in your collection? :)

Jade Vermelho Surreal - swatches and review

For this Holo Friday I want to show you a polish I know many of you like :) This is the beautiful red holo polish Vermelho Surreal from Jade :D
The formula is great and it's almost a one coater! It shows really strong rainbows! Just look at these pictures! :D

GOOD TO KNOW ABOUT VERMELHO SURREAL:

Type of polish: Holographic.

Colour: A rusty red with strong holographic effect.

Opacity: Very good! This is two coats but it's almost a one coater! :)

Formula: Excellent! A very nice formula which is very easy to apply.

Brush: Excellent! Perfect! No complaints at all!

Shine: Very shiny on its own, but I have one coat of Seche Vite top coat in these pictures.

Accurate colour, photo vs IRL: Quite accurate. Perhaps a bit less orange looking IRL. It's more of a rusty red than a red orange.

Grade: 4+/5 :D

This rusty red base colour isn't really my perfect cup of tea ;) but the holo effect on this polish is amazing!! It's very generous with it's strong rainbows!
B E A U T I F U L ! :D

How do you like this polish?
Do you have any other red holo polish to recommend?
