Turquoise Skittlette

The theme for today's Nail Art Sunday is "Skittlette". We had the same theme about a year ago and if you want to see that manicure click here.

The base for this skittlette is OPI Gone Gonzo! (ring finger) and I chose the rest to match that one. That resulted in a silver textured polish from Depend on the middle finger with the cool name of #2066 ;) and a turquoise polish from Color Club called Pure Energy. On two of the turquoise nails I did a glitter gradient with Gone Gonzo. All very matching and well thought through ;)

Chocolate Buttons Gradient Manicure

Warning for a big chocolate craving if you keep reading ;) But please do anyway! Lol!

This is a simple dotted gradient nail art but due to the choices of colors I made I think they look like chocolate buttons ;)

The base is By K Copper Heart and the buttons are made with dotting tools and By K Choco Mousse and By K Jet Stream. A pure By K polish nail art! :D

Time for a real show stopper! This beauty was so hard to get! It disappeared from the shop shelves the minute it was launched - EVERY time!! In the end I finally managed to get hold of a mini bottle. Yay!! :D

Type of polish: Multichrome.

Formula: Ok formula. A bit runny. Apply with easy hands to avoid bald spots and brushstrokes.

Brush: Thin straight cut brush.

Top Coat: Yes.

Grade: 5+++++++++++/5

I don't care that this polish hasn't got the best of formulas, just look at it! It's amazing!!

Butterflies in Nets Manicure

It's Green Wednesday and I'm joining with a green based nail art today!

The base is the stunning Mermaid Cave from By K. I keep coming back to this polish again and again, I can't get enough of it! :D

Then I've done a double stamping. First with Mentality Rigoberta and MoYou London plate Pro Collection XL-01 (the net) and then with Essie Blue Rhapsody and MoYou London Princess Collection-14 (the butterflies).

I was very pleased with the result of the manicure but I'm not that sure if I'm pleased with how I named it ;)

Rimmel London Oh, Mr Darcy! - swatches and review

This is a polish I actually bought mostly for its name. I love Jane Austen and I love "Pride and Prejudice". Mr Darcy is one of the characters in that book. Hand on the heart now, who hasn't been a little bit in love with Colin Firth playing Mr Darcy in one of the tv series versions (BBC 1995)…? ;)

The color is a lovely nude color though. Unfortunately its no longer with me since it was a gift to my great friend Goldie who definitely has had a crush on a certain Mr Darcy ;)

This is three easy coats with a top coat.

GOOD TO KNOW:

Type of polish: Cream.

Number of coats: Three.

Formula: Good. A tiny bit thin but not runny.

Brush: Wide rounded brush.

Top Coat: Yes.

Grade: 3+/5

I'm not quite sure why Rimmel chose such a dull color for Mr Darcy though… Ok, he's a bit boring and stiff in the beginning but in the end quite passionate actually ;) I would have chosen a royal blue color for a polish with this name. Or a dark navy blue ;)

How do you like Oh, Mr Darcy!?
What color do you see Mr Darcy as?

I'm very happy with the result! If you want to see Zoya Dream on its own click here.

Colors by llarowe Gemini Rising - swatches and review

It's Holothon and Holo Friday today and the end of my first working week after four weeks of well deserved holiday.

I'm actually lost for words on this holo polish… It's so stunning and has such great qualities! Of course impossible to capture because of all the glow and holo madness going on here… But in first pic you can see its crazy vivid and bright green color. The last two pics is a hint of its strong holo effect. My pics don't do it justice. This is a must have in both green lovers' and holo lovers' collections! And if you are a green holo lover like me - you'll be in heaven wearing this ;)

This is two coats and it has one of the most perfect formulas I've ever seen on a holo polish!

GOOD TO KNOW:

Type of polish: Holographic.

Number of coats: Two.

Formula: Excellent formula! No complaints at all! It practically applied itself.

Brush: Quite wide straight cut brush.

Top Coat: Yes.

Grade: 5++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++/5

This is the first Colors by llarowe that I've tried and if she has this amazing formula on all her polishes I want more! For this one I've got only one advice - get it before it's too late! ;)

Holo Tiger Nails

Time for some nail art! This is a manicure I wore about two months ago. You can see how short my nails were by then :/ I just had to cut them because my pinky was torn off right down to the flesh :(

Anyhow, I think this manicure turned out pretty well actually! Tiger nails with a holo twist ;)

The base is Jade Mystic Gold and then I've stamped on a pattern from a Konad plate called m57. The black polish is Misa I Will Survive. I had to stamp twice on each nail because of the small print but I don't think you can see the joints that much at all.

By K Waterfall - swatches and review

For this Green Wednesday I want to show you a green/turquoise glitter polish from By K's summer collection. This is the amazing Waterfall! So sparkling with glitters in green and turquoise in a clear base. It's like a tropical waterfall is bouncing down on my nails!

The glitter effect is camera shy but I included a blurry picture to give you a hint on how much this beauty sparkles! This polish makes me happy! And even happier as it's certified cruelty free, vegan and 5-free too :)

GOOD TO KNOW:

Type of polish: Glitter.

Number of coats: Three.

Formula: Great formula! Not gluey at all and so easy to control! The glitters float out evenly on the nails with no effort at all.

Brush: Thin straight cut brush.

Top Coat: Yes.

Grade: 5+/5

This is such a great glitter polish! Great glitter blend and great qualities! Thumbs up!

By K Sugar Rush - swatches and review

This is a pretty effect polish from By K that also can be used on its own. Iridescent glitter in a sheer pink base. You need three coats for it to be opaque on its own but only one thin coat to get a pretty effect on top of other polishes.

I tried Sugar Rush over all twelve of By K's summer and fall 2014 polishes but I thought it looked absolutely best over the green ones. So two pics today, one of Sugar Rush on its own and one pic with it layered over some lovely greens.

I like it best layered and absolutely best over the green blue glitter polish Waterfall (ring finger).

One coat of Sugar Rush layered over:
pinkie - By K Mermaid Cave
ring - By K Waterfall
middle - By K Glacier
index - By K Limelight

GOOD TO KNOW:

Type of polish: Glitter.

Number of coats: Three on its own. One as layered.

Formula: Good formula. On the thicker side but not gluey. Perfect glitter flow!

Brush: Thin straight cut brush.

Top Coat: Yes.

Grade: 3+/5

I'm not that much into layering and effect top coats but this is a fun top coat which also can be used on it's own. I like that different base polishes brings out different colors on the glitters.

Is it best on its own or layered?

Color Club Bright Night - swatches and review

I've got a wonderful cobalt blue polish for this Blue Monday! This is Bright Night from Color Club's Kaleidoscope Collection released in the summer of 2013.

Two coats and a superb formula!

GOOD TO KNOW:

Type of polish: Cream/crelly.

Number of coats: Two, but it's a possible one coater on shorter nails.

Formula: Very good! Very self leveling!

Brush: Medium straight cut brush.

Top Coat: Yes, but it's very shiny on its own.

Grade: 5/5

I love my cobalt blue polishes and this is such a bright and vivid one!

Vintage Manicure

The theme for today's Nail Art Sunday is "Antique" but I've turned it more to "Vintage" :). Our host Lela is usually very generous with interpretations so I hope she is that today too ;)

I don't really know what it is with this manicure that makes it feel vintage but it does to me. I'm thinking a vintage French boudoir here… ;)

The base polish is suitably Oh, Mr Darcy from Rimmel London ;) and them I've done a double stamping print. First the gold stripes (Essie Good As Gold and MoYou London plate Pro Collection-01) and then the flowers (Misa I Will Survive and Konad m57). And some dots on top of that. Fini! :)

By K Copper Heart - swatches and review

Metallic time! This is a nude with an edge. The edge being a metallic finish ;) Two easy coats with a super formula! Yes, there are some brushstrokes but it's a metal. Show me a metal that hasn't got them ;)

GOOD TO KNOW:

Type of polish: Metal.

Number of coats: Two, but the second coat didn't make much difference actually. I bet it's great for stamping too :D

Formula: Great formula! So easy to control!

Brush: Thin straight cut brush.

Top Coat: Yes.

Grade: 4+/5

I like this metal polish! It's classy and perfect for office wear or when you need a break from all those bright colors. As I said above, it's a nude with and edge! Cute name too.

Dollish Polish Redrum - swatches and review

Today it's both Holothon 2.0 and Holo Friday and I've got quite a gem for you actually! I haven't seen this polish on any blogs and that really surprises me because it's really beautiful! Dark copper red with a strong holo effect. I don't see many Dollish polishes at all actually nowadays… Strange.

Redrum was released in 2013 with the Halloween Frights Collection. If you find the name strange - read it backwards… yes, it says murder ;) The expression redrum comes from the film The Shining and even though it's not a very pleasant name it's still a very appropriate name for a Halloween polish ;)

This is two coats and the formula is excellent.

GOOD TO KNOW:

Type of polish: Holographic.

Number of coats: Two.

Formula: Excellent formula! You're in full control and there are no bold spots if you avoid double dragging on your brush strokes.

Brush: Medium straight cut brush.

Top Coat: Yes.

Grade: 5/5

This is a great holo with quite an unusual base color. Unique in my collection. Even holographic, ok weak but still, in the shade, see last picture.

By K Blue Lagoon - swatches and review

Time for an extremely beautiful duochrome polish from By K! This is Blue Lagoon and it shifts easily from a medium turquoise blue to a dark purple and just as easily back to blue again. I'm wearing it right now and I can't stop looking down at my paws to see what color they've shifted to now :)

This is three coats with a top coat. Camera shy to show its purple but live you can easily see it.

GOOD TO KNOW:

Type of polish: Duochrome foil.

Number of coats: Three.

Formula: Good formula, a bit thin but not runny.

Brush: Thin straight cut brush.

Top Coat: Yes.

Grade: 5/5

Last pic is taken at 5 am. I had to go up and pee and when I saw my nails in the morning light I just had to get my camera and capture it! Totally normal eh? ;)

Clover Nails

Time is really flying by when you're on holiday! It's Green Wednesday again and I've got a cute nail art for you. I've always loved clovers. There is something about the shape that captures me :)

The green base polish the gorgeous Limelight from By K. Then I used MoYou London plate Princess Collection-14 and By K First Class to stamp on the clover pattern. Most creams from By K are actually great to stamp with! At least all the one coaters.

I love these! So bright and vivid that I need sunglasses ;)
